A little problem with Counter strike

I have a saphhire 9100 and a amd 2500 +.

On some maps in counter strike I have little sorta light holes in the textures of the walls , I can see them as i walk around on different angles and stuff, the funny thing is , its only for Half life, I happens when i play DoD too although its not as noticable because DoD has more colorful textures. I run Half life in open gl mode. It doesnt happen for other games or even my desktop, so i dont think there is something wrong with my video card. It I have tried using catallyst 3.6 - 3.10, all the same result. Does anyone konw the problem, or how to fix it? MAnY THANKS in advance.

hey there... you see light holes you say... you mean you see some white parts in between textures then? You use opengl in the mods as well as in halflife? Presume we're talking about steam now... If not, is the problem the same in both steam and original half-life?

Acctually, the problem is only in cs 1.5, and in DoD 1.0, its fine with steam

hmm, this sounds very familiar... try running the game w/ a clean config file for mod in question.. that is, remove yours and start the game (will be generated).

Are you seeing holes in the textures themselves? Or are you seeing the holes on corners or other areas where the walls/models meet? Please provide some more detail as to where you are seeing these holes at.

Usually holes happen for a few reasons:

A) Poorly designed map
B) Incomplete Map/Texture
C) Your looking at something that typically is not looked at (IE the bottom of a chair or something like that).
D) Update your video card drivers
E) The "walls" are not flush with one another and at certain points you see a "hole" in the wall.

Well, it is in some maps , and it is in where 2 walls join, or where a tile i joined together with another tile. So it can be basically anywhere, but only on walls. It is not on any models or anything. I have tried

nice reply mazuko. dizmo, did you try with a clean config? also, as mazuko said, tell us what maps you're experiencing this.

If your running CS 1.5 (pre-steam) de_prodigy has the wall errors. I don't know about dod as I don't play it

If you are running CS 1.6 however and are experiencing this, here are a few things to try.

Update your audio, motherboard chipset, and videocard drivers. As a gamer you should be doing this regularly anyways.

Try running in direct3D and tell me if you still see the same thing.

Sometimes....you will get a checkerboard effect on certain textures because of the angle you look at them. The older textures in cs were designed for head on viewing and were at a lower resolution, not to mention the fact being earlier textures they were not the greatest. Thus by running at a higher res, and with higher quality settings, the crappy old textures look well crappy. Most of these have been fixed by now, but every so often one or two of them sneaks in on a map.
