RVS 1.5 blocks virtual drives.

Ubisoft released the 1.5 patch for Rainbow Six 3: RavenShield and it disables any virtual drives installed on your program. That is, if the patch detects that you have any virtual CD-ROMs open, it will not allow the game to load. If you call Ubisoft, they just say that the only option is to uninstall/delete those programs and use the CD-Drive.

I think this is a really stupid move. Although I'm sure there are a lot of people who do use virtual drives for piracy purposes, there are also lots of people who use them for business and convenience purposes. All virtual drives offer faster access times as compared to real drives. Also, virtual drives are quiet while real drives spin up and down, polluting the sound waves.

And, how about those business owners who run PC Cafes and use virtual drives in order to protect their original CDs from customers?

Ubisoft has shown indifference and stupidity toward its customers.
