Any news on a patch for COD?

Anyone heard anything, i have tried everything to get this game not to crash. I need a patch or an ATI driver set that works.

Where are you Terry!!

Have you checked to make sure your vid card isn't sharing an IRQ with something else?

Something about the Q3 engine: it never liked overclocking, esp. on the fsb..
you might try it on normal clock speeds, I assume you have fastwrites off ? (in bios)

As for me, all I had to do was install the atiogl.dll from CAT 3.7. I have both my CPU and my 9600 Pro overclocked and the game runs great now. I haven't had the first CTD or lockup since doing this. I'm using CAT 3.9 officials.

It just seems to be system-specific problems at this time.

Yes agree, I'm runnin on full 3.9 cat.'s, and it is running without a glitch
I'm sure it is something in monkey's rig,
but one has to start somewhere, and if Cod is not running on standard speeds,
then one can start looking elsewhere.

Thanks for your input guys.......

My ATI card is running at Stock speed, the only O/C is my FSB.

I dunno what it is, i have CAT 3.9 with the atioglxx.dll from CAT 3.7, fast writes is off... all my other games work fine. Does anyone else have any other things I can try?

What kind of settings are you attempting in the game? Have you tried turning down a few things? Maybe try one and then another until you find the 'sweet' spot.

Funky, don't panic, man.

Just use DriverCleaner to remove the current drivers. I'd also suggest using a Registry Cleaner to clean up anything else leftover. (EasyCleaner 1.7f is a good freebie. www.toniarts.com)

Then, reinstall the official CAT 3.9 and copy over to the Windows/System32 the atiogl.dll you downloaded.

Where did you get that theme>????

I'm using straight 3.9 and running great.

Are you runninh refresh force? If so- uninstall it and use refresf rate lock in drivers set to 85mhz.

then in config.cfg (in C:/Call of Duty/main) type seta r_displayrefresh "85" and save- the game will now run default 85hz, this helped me out.

Same as me. That file should work if you extracted it correctly. What I did was put it in zip format and then extracted it to the Windows/System32 directory after renaming the 3.9 version of it. You might try redownloading it to make sure you got a good copy.

Funky, if you've been following my little quest this evening, I've successfully updated the BIOS on my 9600 Pro 128 MB card. Once I did that, rebooting Windows made the system re-detect a new video card. XP then proceeded to install drivers for the card. I let it do that to see what happened.

Within 5 minutes of starting CoD, I had a hard lock and had to use the Reset button to restart the system. I tried again and then this time got a VPU recovery notice. Reset the system again.

This time, I replaced the Windows/System32 atioglxx.dll file with the CAT 3.7 and just completed 2 levels of the game without a hitch.

I'd have to say there's something going on with your system that just isn't working the way it should.

I'm even playing the game with the card overclocked (435/317) and my CPU overclocked (110) from 100.

If nothing from CAT 3.6 to now works, I'd even suggest trying the CAT 3.4 drivers. Those were always solid for me.
