I was looking through games for sale on various online stores and found the new Wolfenstein on D2DUK.

With red letters there was the following:

When did Germans join the Axis of Evil...? LOL The irony is hilarious.

Why one of the most free minded, intelligent people on the planet keep letting their government choose what games they play is beyond my understanding.

I am surprised more that some Arab countries censored it , it is more related to Nazis and that's Germany realated issue so why the hell would they ban a game like this.

The game is to "violent"

They're trying to keep Adolf Hitler Jr. (Or a "Columbine incident" ) From arising because they think violent videogames make peoiple thoroughbred killers. Which is stupid because I'm not chasing pills and ghost.... oh wait....

They actually will release it however once the developers make the "G" rated version where your gun shoots butterflies, and you hug the enemies to death

Germany is worried because of the Nazi issue..... nothing can be sold/displayed etc. that shows Nazi symbolism. The other countries, I don't know......

That's partially it, they would really love if everyone forgot about their whole pinky and the brain incident...

However it's mostly to do with the violence in their videogames. which is to say they don't want videogames that have violence at all.

I don't know which I find more troubling: that Germany is so sensitive about its dark past that all modern references to it have to be banned or that the German government doesn't trust its own people to know the difference between entertainment and racism.

What's going on over there? Is there immense political pressure on Germany to never ever mention Nazism again or do Germans have a fear of an inner nazi inside of them which needs to be kept in check at all times. The whole thing is just weird.

It's especially ridicules as in Germany every young man has to compulsorily attend military training for 2 years something. They learn to kill/shoot the professional way.

they're going a bit nuts in Germany atm actually.

its partly a knee-jerk reaction to that kid who posted on social netw site that he was gonna 'get his guns and shoot people' or something like that.
then went out and shot dead 15 people.

they're gonna ban paintballing, lazer tag, anything at all that even hints at 'shooting'.

they'll probably be pulling Action Man off the shelves next..
