Dragon Age...

Anyone else looking forward to this? I've seen some of the reviews and looks promising. Wonder what others might think about it.

Re: Dragon Age...

Well, I am shopping for the best pre order deal lol.
I am very looking forwards to this. An extra reason I am is because the disc version will not have any kind of authentication DRM crap, just a disc check. Plus the whole being (hopefully) an amazing RPG. Perhaps I am wrong, but it feels like it might be Mass Effect with Dragons lol.

Re: Dragon Age...

I was never a Bioware fan, even now their only game I consider Top is Mass Effect. I do have a (stupid?) optimism about Dragon Age that goes beyond reason for a very experienced gamer like myself.

I am still not sure how the battles will be.

Are you going to get it by download or retail/box?

Bioware. Dragons. Mmmm......Very much looking forward to this one, but don't want to get too excited.

Once bitten, twice shy when it comes to pre-launch hype. I've never gotten over the Doom 3 disaster. It still hurts even now, and did I say only once? I've been disapointed many more times than that.

But what the heck; I'm an eternal optimist - Pre-ordering today

What delay?
Both Xbox 360 and PC versions are on the same date.

Unless of course you were talking about the PS3 version, but at least it is only going to be few days delay.

Re: Dragon Age...

Damn it, I couldn't stop myself. I just bought (pre-order) the Dragon Age: Origins Digital Deluxe Version from GG.

One of the few cases where the download version of a new game is cheaper than the retail copy, at least here. And not cheaper than the collectors edition (there isn't one here), but the plain version.

Bioware, don't disappoint me.

Re: Dragon Age...

I generally don't buy hard copies any more but prefer digital copies. It keeps my place less cluttered. I was going to pre-order through Steam but it's actually a "pre-purchase". Normally this is fine, but with my wife due in 10 days I need to hold off and save pennies. Why Bioware? WHY? Why did you have to plan your release date so close to the birth of my first born??? How you test me...

Re: Dragon Age...

Got it pre-ordered on steam and can't wait. Borderlands will have to keep me occupied until it comes out. Still not seeing a lot for Mass Effect 2 as far as pre-order toys...well, other then those that come from a Dragon Age pre-order. Jumping back and forth between gamestop and Amazon right now. Steam hasn't put it up yet.

Re: Dragon Age...

Some of the bonus content was available for me to download and I had a quick check of the wallpapers. They are ok, but one of them was striking, to me at least. It shows a city/buildings underground in three sections. The middle one looks like something that doesn't necessarily belong there. I am not going to say more since it could be a surprise in the game for later on.

Or perhaps it is just my imagination.
Time will tell.

I won't be able to talk about my impressions with the game till the 6th when it is released here. It looks like it is Baldurs' Gate 4 (yes 4), only better. Probably the child of Baldurs' gate and Mass Effect.

BTW, the music is...what you would expect, (think LOTR music) only that it screams AAA quality. I

I'm currently replaying BG2 to warm me up for Dragon Age. Ah, the music... Top 3 PC game soundtracks to me are BG1, Icewind Dale, BG2.

So what do you mean BG4? Are you counting Dark Alliance as the third part?

Re: Dragon Age...

No, I am just following numbering as certain companies do. 3 is too small for the difference between BG2 and this game, so, let's jump to 4!
Besides, this looks much better in everything from BG series. BG series that I never enjoyed.

Fail of a review. They punish the game for not being as good as they expected/wanted it to be in the graphics department.

Actually, I thought that was the most justified criticism. The review here also knocks the graphics and I can see why based on screens and gameplay vids; I recall Bioware's Star Wars & Mass Effect having fantastic graphics at the time. If that's the worst criticism of the game then it should be a lot of fun but I do wish the graphics had more "Wow!" to them like Oblivion or even Gothic 3 which begged for better graphics hardware

Re: Dragon Age...

I refuse to take any review seriously when the main objection to the game, and cutting points from the final score, is that the graphics are not as good as they wanted them to be.
I am not saying that the graphics are superb, I don't know, I don't have the game yet. I tend to judge a game for what it has not what I wanted from it to have.

As for RPGs in particular, the importance of story and battles, far surpasses anything else.
