Game Instability

Erm, my machine keeps freezing whenever I play Enemy Terroritory. I don't know what's causing it but it is quite annoying I've got a feeling it may be some setting. Also Quake 3 OSP seems to freeze only when I use a certain config, so this makes me think it could be some kind of graphics setting as both games use the same engine (i think?). Any ideas? help

I was thinking you might have been overheating or had a weak power supply, but those are both fine. I'll look deeper into this.

I'm sorry, but someone else will have to help you becuase the best I could do to mess it up on my system was to make the loading screens flicker like crazy (and the only way I managed to fix that was by reinstalling) but I couldn't make it crash. I also searched google and a few other forums and didn't find anything.

Theres always generic stuff you could try, like reformatting, reinstalling DX, drivers and/or Enemy Teritory, but this doesn't seem like the type of problem that would be fixed by that.

Another question came to my mind: Does it crash at a certian point of time consistantly, or on a specific map?

it always freezes like a few minutes into the game, on any map although it did last quite noticeably longer once.

I've had this happen on the UT03 demo. If I played a certain type of game style it would always lock up a few minutes of the game. I even tried underclocking my radeon.

Oh, wow you just inadvertantly gave me the soloution. I had the exact same problems in anything based on the UT2K3 engine, where it would crash randomly. I fixed it by running driver cleaner, then installing the omega drivers. Try that, it will probably work.

Let's assume the worst situation. Hardware incompatibility, what kind of motherboard do you have? I know my old soyo dragon plus didn't like half the things I put in it and gave me hassles on about almost every program I ran.
