colin mcrae rally 3
I just tried out colin mcrae rally 3 and was suprised by how much it requires.
Playing at 1024x768 32bit, 4x aniso, draw distance set to 6, details and shadows set to high, and it stutters alot, not very playable :/
Anyone with similar problems, look at my signature for my specs!
Can it really be, that this game requires so much power?

You may need al least a 9500 pro to get decent framerates. The rest of your rig looks cool but im sure you already know about the beneffits of the R3xx

I can't figure when it supposed to be released, last when i talked to my freind from a game distrubitor, he said 16/6, but now some sites says 30/6. Anyway i persuded him to send me a copy, because he were told the release date was on monday... ??.
guess i have to turn down details and resolution, cant aford a new card now and anyway gonna wait for r400 or nv40, so i can play hl2 in 4xfsaa

heh, the demo wouldn´t even run here, it said my radeon7200 wasn´t good enough.
full game works ok, though ´now i´m starting to think the demo was right about my card being not good enough
anyways, i´ve heard a lot of different stories about cmr3 already, cause many ppl just can´t get it to run or it runs fine the first time but not anymore after that etc.

after playing about an hour, i totally second that. what an awful sequel to cmr2, especially gamplay-wise.

Well i must say it also disappoints me, not because off the gameplay, it seems ok to me, but beacause it runs so badly!!
I know my radeon8500 is not the fastest card, but I'm able to run every other game without any problems and I'm getting 10,5k in 3dmark 2001, so my system is not useless.
It stutters ALOT and I'm running it in 800x600x32, low draw distance and Z set to 16 bit :/
And also there is a issue with my sound, so the voice on my co-driver sounds like the chipmonks..or whatever they were called.
Codemaster please create a patch and work together with ATI, so some optimiztions can be maked. Don't make the same mistake as Rockstar did with GTA3, not another shitty PS2 convertion

I have bad stutters here on a 9700pro. Even at 1024*768 without AA/AF on it's terible. the demo run just fine smooth and playable, the full version BAD jerky/stuttering. I think I'll take it back and wait to see if codemasters fix it. But judging from the toca fiasco I think it's gonna be a while before it's fixed. just tried from 1024*768*32+everything on (shadows....) all the way down to 640*480*16 everything off and it doesn't seem to make much difference to the crappy frame rates.

After my first post in this thread I decided "Ok, I will have a second try at it" and loaded it up.
Sad to say, I only played for about 10 minutes and then uninstalled it (again)...
Perhaps the kiddies will like it, but I didn´t...

I have some pretty heavy hardware, getting over 20,500 in 3dmark2001se and this game is really poorly coded. Running fraps in the game at 1600x1200 with FSAA I get high rates, but the coding of the 3d engine is terrible, there is a noticeable "judder" no matter what setting you use, and its nothing to do with the hardware, so all you guys with decent hardware wondering if you need to upgrade..... you dont. they just havent polished this game to the standard they should have when releasing it. V2 is much superior and also it plays better.
poor.

Sucks, as well as sucks
Boy, I agree with all the negatives. Granted, I do have a POS rig (see sig for details), but the rendering performance was dreadful, force feedback sucked, and the goddamn car was not drivable.
Maybe it's just the demo, but YUCK! Not even close to the gorgeous and addictive CMR2.
