Should I get a gamecube?

I currently have an XBOX and my brothers got a PS2. I really like adventure games but as you probably know XBOX doesnt have a whole lot. I wont get a PS2 because I can always play my brothers but I've been noticing the increase of games on the Gamecube and I'm just a little curious if this would be worth it. It would be $150 and it includes one game. What do you think?

If you can afford it, go for it. I personally can't afford another system and am perfectly content with the Xbox, but there are a few games on the gamecube that would certainly make it worth buying.

System Specs

It's a really amazing little console, and I believe that anyone that gives it a chance will most likely love it. There are also afew excellent games that more than justify the cost of the console. Grab Metroid or Zelda with the console and you'll have a great time.

Hmm...

As you have a PS2 and an Xbox, it might be worth it. I've always preffered the other two consoles, but the GCN has some good games. If you get any game, I _STRONGLY_ recommend Super Smash Brothers Melee. Easily the best title available for it, especially in multiplayer. I thought Mario Sunshine and Zelda were disappointing. In short, SMS has awful cheap-shot level design, and Zelda loses imagination half-way through. I also have Pikmin and Super Monkey Ball. I've only had the patience to play Pikmin for two hours and Super Monkey Ball is only good in multiplayer.

It's a fun enough console, and I've not tried Metroid Prime, but I think the other two are better and if you have something else to spend your money on, like an upgrade, I'd say that you should go for that instead. But SSBM kept me entertained for about 120+ hours, so definitely get that. It's dead fun in Single Player too.

You can also get the GBA adapter so if you have a Gameboy, any title GBA GBC GB game I believe, they will run on the adapter you add to the bottom of GC. Bring some of thost classic Game Boy games to your TV screen

If you have the cash, sure.

If not, it's not worth saving for.

I say yes. I have one and there are some excellent games for it.

All the resident evil games - excellent graphics, same RE playability.
Super Mario Sunshine - its Mario therefore its great.
Monkey Ball - i actually like the 1 player game, its mad but good. 2 player is amazing.
Zelda - The wind waker. Not the best Zelda game, but better than most other adventures ever. Cell Shading seems mad at first but the more you play the more you appreciate itl Ah and you get the n64 port of Zelda - Ocarina of time and Masters Quest on a 2nd disk - FREE!!. Now that is the best advanture game ever if not the best game, period.

Its not really worth it considering it only has 2 exclusive games that are worth playing.

I've read all of your posts. As of right now money is not a problem. I was just wondering if the GameCube would be more of a "fun" console. I've always liked Nintendo games ever since NES, I'm sure they'll keep coming out with entertaining games which is why I thought Gamecube would be pretty cool. I know the gamecube doesn't have that many FPS but thats what I can use the XBOX or PC for.

Gamecube=FUN!

I got one for the kids for x-mas and they love it, and I am continually blown away by the quality of the graphics (STUNNING!) and the excellent intuitive design of everything. It's a great product, I highly recomend it...but make sure you pick yourself up as many wavebird RF controllers as you plan to have players. The wavebirds ROCK and me son & daughter haven't managed to break them yet! (But they did kill the Pelican pretty quick. ) I have SSBM & Mario Sunshine and highly recomend both titles just because of their awesome gameplay! (I also liked Zelda, but I only had it for a week.) The only other big family fave is a wave rider game that doesn't really have anything to make it stand out, just very excellent physics/look/feel/funfactor.

8 to 7 pretty close. I think I'll save up more for a little bit so I have more than enough when I do make the purchase. I will let you guys know what I think of it once I buy it. Thanks again to everyone who took part in this thread in helping me with a tough decision. I highly appreciate it.

definitely gamecube

I suppose the Xbox was supposed to be a sony killer, but I love the games, medal of honor is something my son and I enjoy quite a bit, now they are pretty cheap, I think as an "also ran" it compares favorably with sony, can't say the same for Xbox...

It's interesting...

I always thought that the GameCube had better graphics than the PS2 and the Xbox, the IQ always seemed so smooth. Recently I came to find out that the manufacturer of the GameCube's GPU is none other than ATi, I found that very funny, very funny indeed.

Now, wouldn't that be cool? If one system could be OC'd (CPU and all) it would be the Xbox, though, if possible, it probably wouldn't OC much and of course cooling is always an issue. I'm supprised that no one has tryed this (or maybe someone has).

I think the Gamecube technically is currently the most powerful tech-wise of the bunch, but it tends to get overlooked since it's really targetted at the younger market. (And truly scores there too! Me 3 & 6 year old pick up the controls intuitively, totally killer design!)

But I've heard it has a couple of REALLY good grown-up games, me kids just ain't quite old enough.

Oh yeah, and on the topic of ATi in gamecube...I knew that 'cause of the spiffy little ATi logo on the front of mine...

X-Box is most powerful

X-Box is technically the most powerful system on the market. I personally dislike the GC's controller scheme. It really hinders the variety of games that can utilize that control scheme: basically 2-D Fighters. The PS2 is the all around console for everybody in my opinion. GameCube lacks certain things such as online multiplayer, but nobody really needs that for the games on that console. Top games for that console would be: Zelda: Wind Waker and Metroid Prime. On the better side of things, X-Box 2 will be featuring an ATI GPU
