Maybe that's why people are getting that error code?

its a fan test, probably somthing sony techs use when they get a ps3 in for repair or whatever, maybe a check that happens before they leave the factory? who knows its use really.

as for the cleaning part...rofl

I used this method on my 60GB and it worked quite well. I clean my place every single day and I was surprised at the dust that came out of it.

damn, when i do finally get my ps3 there is no way in hell ill be doing anything like that 60gb "fan test" as for the cleaning im suprised you say you got dust coming out of it (there is no dust that came out shown on either vid linked)
ps3 cost FAR too much (in Aus anyway) to risk that shit

lol, what did you expect to see? A cloud of dust? As for helping clean it out a little I would personally take the above method over compressed air any day. Also how often would you do this? Every six months? Once a year? Its not something that hurts it, you are just turning it...
I can't say that this will make your PS3 faster but it did quiet mine down a little

How would a fan moving burn up your CPU / GPU? That just makes no sense.

no not a cloud of dust, but it wouldve been quiet simple for him to zoom in on this dust that came out of his console and show us a shot of it

Thanks for the info. I do always worry about there being to much dust.
