Next generation of consoles

Any info on what the next round of consoles will bring and when?

All three should be already designing their next consoles, right?

They have been designing the next gen consoles since before the current gen was released.

Three years is probably a good figure for the Xbox. Sony has said a 10 year committment for the PS3, but we'll see. Nintendo, who knows. Some in the industry say soon, but that doesn't make sense considering how many have been sold to date. My guess, more than three years on the Wii.

there was a rumor that nintendo was developing a new system that is fully capable of the wii's own function, however with considerable improvements and design.... wonder what it would be called..

Why worry Judas? The biggest titles haven't even been released yet for 2 of the 3 consoles nor have we seen any new franchises (except gears of war). The 360 would be eligible for an upgrade first, but it has lots to do still. The hardware is just getting properly utilized now to rival the PS3. Nintendo is way too childish for me, and theres no serious online play on it either. Feels so limited.

But no need to worry about a Playstation 4, or an Xbox 720 or 1080.

First up, what warrants the title "franchise"? please explain that, as im not quiet sure what your saying.

the ps3 is the console that needs to shape up to rival the 360 as it stands today.
will the ps3 be "better" than the 360 in the next few years? who can honestly say.
imo its a no. Even game devs have said the ps3 is a retarded design for making great games with minimum fuss.

Now to the OP, im sure they (console companys) all have their next console in early stages of design...but as others have said we have atleast 2 or 3 good years left in this generation

Since I doubt they will try to get higher resolutions so early, will we just see more sheer horsepower from these machines? I don't see anything other happening. You?
The only thing that I hope for is not further integration of online gaming that requires the consoles to be online all the time or even at certain points.
