Call of Duty 4: Patch 1.4 - Fails to Install

(Actually, that should be Patch 1.1!)

Of all things!!

I have a legally purchased DVD, installed on Vista 32-bit and have played the game (SP) about half-way through. I've been a bit busy with other things and noticed there's a 1.1 patch out for the game. So, I downloaded it first via GameShadow. Patch won't install due to "mss32.dll" not found. I have so many copies of that .dll on my system it's not even funny.

So, I went to Gamershell and downloaded the full version from there and saved it to my HDD. Tried running the patch from that one and got a "no valid installation of Call of Duty 4 found on the system..." or something to that affect.

So, what's the 'right' way to do these patches under Vista?

(On a side note: Gameshadow didn't even 'find' many of the games/demos I have installed until I selected to do a FULL search. It was only 'finding' Halo 2 and Obivion up to this point.)

EDIT/UPDATE: Aha!! It's not an installer per se. It needs to be Copied/Extracted to the main CoD:MW directory to work.

However, of note: The Gamershell file is definitely an .exe and 'should' do the job. It's just not doing it like it should, though.
