Gears of war
This is somthing im a little interested in..I have played and completed Gears of War on the 360 (But lacking some of the achievements) and loved it.
I just picked up the pc version today and so far i think it's superior to the console edition.
Thoughts please on which version is better.

I didn't play much of the 360 version, but one thing is certainly better and thats the controls. Plus, the additional content.
Other than that, its pretty much the same game.

That is certainly one hell of a plus for this game.Once the mouse is configured to the sensitivity required by the player, this is where i think this game comes to life..

I just got the game. I can't even save games because I'm not able to sign up for a live account. What fucking bullshit is that? If I'm playing single player why the hell do I need to sign in to live to save games. When I go to the site to sign up for live it gives me an error. The error I get using IE7 is that stupid Runtime Error. I want my money back now. First they want you to pay to play multiplayer, now they want you to sign into live just to save your game progress. What a bunch of bullshit.

sorry to see someone having hassle with the sign in..I had that trouble too.Turned out all was needed was to sign in using your 360 profile.
Also on installation it required a update from windows that required a pc restart which added a further 2 minutes delay just too find out when the game starts it don't support a 1440x900 resolution from the beginning.
for me the game ran in the back ground but had no display.Had to reset the pc 3 times before i figured out the problem.Had to lower my display to to 1024x768 just for the game to start up.Set the in-game options to 1440x900 just to bring back my desktop settings to my rez i use.
Never known a game to be so problamatic to install.

I tried Firefox and IE6 and still got the same error. The account I log into is a live account. Now the link redirects to Page unavailable. At least I'm getting something better than a "Runtime Error." I still think that it is dumb I have to login to save games. What if someone doesn't have a internet connection or it's down? And people complain about Steam? At least they have an offline mode.

Got the game to work now. I guess it's a local profile that I created but if I decide to create or use a Live account my progress in the game will be lost. Also with a local account it won't remember achievements. They should of asked at startup what kind of account to create or use. There are too many hoops you have to jump through just to play this game. I'm willing to bet that all the Live games will be the same way.
Anyway, about the game itself. I'm enjoying it so far. The controls are excellent. It's a little different the way they have the camera set up. The graphics look awesome. Has anyone played Halo 3 on the PC? How does this port compare to Halo 3? This has to be the best port from a console that I have ever played.

This game just won't stop giving me trouble. I just went back to play again and the last checkpoint is gone. I can't even start at the beginning of Act 2. I was at Act 3, the point where you have to walk across the planks without falling down. Does anyone have a check point in Act 3 before that point? If it's at the beginning of Act 3 that would be fine too. TIA!

the game runs like crap for me. just constant hitching issues. im running it all on medium and 1024x768. when it actually runs right, im doing about 60fps, but most of the time its just hitching.
kick ass, i can add to that 2 crashes and a hard lock.
* lets make that 4 crashes
*last time... 5 crashes and 2 hard locks. im done with the game till a patch comes out.

If you mean to make the swat turn while taking cover behind a wall... double tap either A or D (Default).

ya i noticed you can change which over the shoulder view while taking cover but in the console game there was a buton to change the over the shoulder view while just running and crouching/aiming with out cover, would slightly change you perspective of the fight between the two.

I was looking at it on amazon and it was £27, my rig just about scrapes the recommended requirements as far as i remember but £27 just to try sounds a bit steep, and the demo is massive, and i'm sick of massive files for demos now.
I've tried downloading the Crysis demo like 4 times and every time it's failed for one reason or another so i'm not gonna bother now.
I have played it on the 360 and it was alright but it got boring very quickly so i'll give it a miss
