Have you checked using Windows Update? (It's not the best option, but, for whatever reason, Windows kept prompting me to install a C-Media Audio driver even when I didn't have a C-Media audio card installed. )

The upside of it is, if it's the correct driver, it'll be more stable since Microsoft has it on the Windows Updates.

Good news
I uninstalled my sound card drives.
BUT
I get this message
"Fatal Error: Failed to load platform modules"
I've been googling it and seems more than one person has gotten this error.
i think i might be in luck!

GOOD NEWS!
I FOUND THE PROBLEM!
It was the mixer application that came with the driver!
I knew I didn't like that app!
