How to receive Xbox360 updates WITHOUT Live account

You should be able to do this right, i mean it's mentioned on the Xbox360 official website that simply trying to sign into the account (before you even make it far enough to preset sign in information) you should be presented with updates and available options to download arcade games.

But i'm only REALLY interested in getting the updates for the Xbox360, and everytime i load up and try to get the updates... it doesn't do anything....

Anyone know what the current Versions of the updates are.. perhaps i already have them?

Just tried hooking up a 1080p HDTV using component and i can't seem to select 1080p from the menu... and i KNOW component and 1080p work together on the xbox360 and the only relation to the issue is that an update is required to get it to work.

well you can download them off of microsoft.com or xbox.com and burn them to CD. then you can bring them over to your xbox. that works very well, especially for those with modded boxes (is that whats going on with you?)

modded boxes can be updated even if you've been banned.

(i'm selling them, found a supplier... but i still think i'm getting raped in the cost department because i'm only purchasing to keep one in stock and on display, doesn't matter where i got, everyone wants me to buy in shipments of 1000 quantities, which is a joke, and if not that, minimum of 10, which is still a joke, the only things i buy in larger quanities is Airlink MIMO XR wireless routers and USB cables, oh and Compressed cans of air lol.)

Can you give me a link to the direct download/burn to disc update? I just don't want to break the HD-DVD feature as well though.

i cant find em all right now. I know that xbox-scene had a bunch of them listed out at one point, but here is the early summer update that deals with (mostly) legacy xbox support

Well it still should be an option but not all tv's can accept 1080P over component just to let you know

in my testing the very best rarely do. HDMI is really the way it should be handled. major cock up by MS originally.

Any news on a HDMI cable that i had read about quite some time ago?

i mean they have a VGA cable, and a number of others... i'm SURE they can come up with a way to allow one to use a HDMI cable on older boxes...

course they won't do something like that till probably the elites stop moving alot.

its all third party from what ive been reading on xbox-scene. nobody has made it yet. And also, wouldnt converting the analog signal to digital be kinda...bleh?

The orginal signal out of the XBox... isn't it initally a digital form?

there is alot of DtA and vice versa in many things.. of course a true straight digital connection would be ultimately the best..

Soon as i get another TV hooked up here to fire up, i'll try manually updating the xbox.... i KNOW 1080p should be available and work..

Plus i've been seeing ALOT of horror stories about the HDMI fiasco with the elite....

the elite i hooked up with hdmi worked just fine.

edit: and on the original 360s the signal was originally analog. or rather. everything that comes out of the port in the back is straight up analog.

Including the bundled cable that allows you to plug in a Digital Fiber Optic Audio cable.... that doesn't make sense...

Quite a large number of people have had many many problems with the HDMI to HDMI TV connections... Purple/Blue, garbled rainbowed effects graphics....

Hook up xbox to internet, create profile and update, then delete profile. 1080p you can use VGA or HDMI on the case of the Elite. I'm not sure to be honest if you can do 1080p using component but the option is there to use in my case thing is i cant test it since my hdtv only goes up to 1080i.

Thats normal. I am not positive why tv's can only do 1080i over component but I guess thats just the way it is.

They just released a pro system with HDMI so if you just bought it return it for one of those!

Right, did you get the update sorted? IIRC if you just sign up for an XBL silver account you should be able to update the 360, ignore me if you have already got it sorted.
