Flatout 2 Freezes (no dual-core)

Hey... Ever since I bought this game (and even when I played the demo), my game started to freeze after a certain amount of time. However, the freeze doesn't last forever. My screen turns black for about 10-15 seconds and all I can hear is the drone of my vehicle. Then, after that 10-15 seconds, my game comes back. Obviously when in an online game, it drops me and I have to rejoin multiplayer. When in single player, however, I can just continue going (usually it crashes me into the wall or something, but nothing big happens).

I don't have a dual-core processor, so every thread similar to this I've seen hasn't helped...

My specs are as follows:

AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3700+ 2.19GHz
2 GB RAM
ATI Radeon X800

Whatever other specs needed I can provide... No other game I play has this problem.

Greetings and welcome to DriverHeaven!

As Chaos suggested, make sure your motherboard chipset drivers are up to date and also check for an updated BIOS.

What are the RAM settings you're using? If you're using all AUTO settings, you might want to use Manual and make sure the RAM is set to specs.

What you're describing sounds like a VPU Recover. Are you getting any error logs?

Thanks for responding, guys. I fixed it by simply turning off Post-Processing. Weird.

I actually played a few races just the other night. Tinkering with various systems to see how things are performing. FlatOut and FO2 are among my favorites of all time.

Glad to know it got sorted out for you.
