It is fun, and beautiful, but the god of strategy games hardly.
Good game though.

A good game that could have been great were it not for loads of little problems strewn throughout the game. The best thing in the long run is the creativity of the many game modifiers that this series has attracted. Without mods like UltimateAI I would have lost interest much sooner.

I'm with Crack Pot, Medieval 2: Total War is the best strategy game on the condition you don't count the previous TW games Medieval, Shogun and Rome. People who played those games are less likely to be impressed by Medieval 2 because they've seen it all before. I've played plenty of RTS games but Medieval 2 was my first in that series.
Yes, Medieval 2 has tons of bugs and many of them are very serious (I hate the passive enemy sieges more than anything else) but there's so many mods and unofficial fixes out there that it's just a matter of time before someone fixes the buggy AI too.
I've played a bunch of mods but eventually just got tired of the serious bugs which affected them all. Darthmod, Litemod, Lands to Conquer and The Long Road are all pretty cool as is Ultimate AI. Anywho, Kingdoms is just days away and it's just what the doctor ordered. I'm not sure if they'll have fixed the AI (not likely) but at least there's all kinds of cool eras to play around with.
