GRAW2 - SP Demo = VPU Recovers
On my B/B ATI X1950 Pro 256 PCI Express....
I can't get more than 5 min into the game without getting a VPU Recovery and/or just a lost video signal and have to use the RESET button to restart the computer.
I've gone from CAT 7.7s back to CAT 7.4s to see if it is a driver-related problem. Nada...same thing happens and even quicker.
Anyone else playing the demo?

I took a little time with this again last night. This time, I was able to get to the Rebel Post, destroy it and then destroy the two arsenal items.
Just as the game saved the progress, I lost the video signal again.

Not that its the solution to your problem, but you can quicksave/quickload (if you just want to complete the demo).
Also, id download the MP demo and see if that crashes aswell.
I havent really been able to play GRAW2 properly since it crashes to desktop every 10 mins. The MP demo did it, the SP demo did, and so did the full game.
But, ever since installing Catalyst 7.7 and always closing down ALL programs in the background (MSN [my friend says game always crashes when someone writes to him], foobar, Xfire.. everything.) i havent had a crash yet. I did however have a full system crash/freeze after playing 3-4 missions without any problems.

I did notice that, if I close MSN the game doesn't crash so frequently. I'll download the MP Demo to see what happens.
Thanks for the reply.

that's a point actually, I didn't mention because it's something I do automatically without even thinking about it. I shut off everything when I play games. all I leave running is firewall and av (< seems to be especially important for online gaming, my ping goes through the roof if I leave a slew of progs in the sys tray. probably not helped by my crap 2mb connection though)

Well, after installing the MP Demo, and patching it with the latest Demo Patch, the game still crashes to a black [lost signal] screen after a little while.
I'll likely uninstall this demo for now and wait to see what developes. Otherwise, it looks good while it is working.

I finally was able to complete the SP Demo but the crashing isn't worth putting up with if it does this in the full version.
Otherwise, I got an "A" on my Debriefing.

This is a long shot but try underclocking your Core (~15mhz?) on the video card. I remember that i read X1000 cards that overheat the core goes into a blank screen. Worth the try if you got nothing else to do
Try renaming the .exes to like graw.exe. Tried disabling VPU recovery? I´ve always had it disabled but i cant even find the option now with my HD2900.
