Epic not allowed to give users free content for Gears of War?

Is this true?

http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=38823

They are not usually a very reliable source, so please take it with a grain of salt, but if true, I guess that would suck.

One of the BEST things about Epic has been their free content updates, especially when it comes to Unreal Tournament. Turns even the most jaded gaming geek into a loyal Epic fanboy.

I hope that if this is true, it won't in any way affect the Unreal franchise.

Ya it has been like this for a wile for multiple developers. You have to think about microsofts side too though -- They pay a LOT of money for you to be able to download "free" content, 300mb 3 million times is a lot of bandwith.

I'm torn though, you do pay 7.99$ a month for gold membership, shit should be free!

You already have to pay $59 for the game in the first place.

What else are you paying that $8 a month for?

Bummer.
