I installed the patch at around 9:00Pm today after I posted about it and have been playing most of that time. I finished five or six jobs and was minding my business running through the zone to go kill the salesman and out of nowhere pops up three dickheads and killed my ass. Oh ya, did I forget to say I forgot to save after I left the trader. An hour and a half of play down the freaking tube.

I read a post somewhere (don't remember where) about a time limit? Is there any time limit in the game?

All the tasks you are given have time limits and far as I know if you don't complete them you don't get a chance to redo it.

I have two bugs now that are really affecting gameplay. One of them kills it all together.
1.) Crosshair either will not appear or is all messed up. Before the patch I could fix it by disabling it and then enabling it and it would come back.
2.) I can't open the traders door to complete my missions or trade my shit I am packing around. I have three missions complete and a full inventory. This really fing sucks ballz.

So what does everyone think of the patch? Does anyone notice any performance improvements?

I won't be using it till the second trip through the game, I'm already pretty far and hate restarting games. Oh well.

I didn't notice any performance increase at all. Most everybody that is getting increases in performance are on very high end systems and vista.
I can't even play SP now because I cannot get into the traders room. Supposedly it is a well known bug and will be fixed in the patch. Those are the exact words from some dude on filefront forums. The problem is that I have already installed the freaking patch and never had this bug until I patched the game.

Probably best to stay away from the patch unless you play multiplayer more than singleplayer.

one thing that i really dont understand is that multiplayer runs like a dream with everything maxed out , but single player i cant get it to run smooth at all unless i switch it to static crappy lights.i quit !

So I patch it and restart over again.. get the boar quest and head out.. get to the road and turn around to look back at the camp and it locks up. Yay.. thanks for the patch.. shelved again.

What a joke. What pisses me off is there is NO support for this game whatsoever when you goto the offical forums.. huge thread about these random lockup crashes and not one post from the company. What a waste of money. Can't return it because of Gamestops rules so I just pissed $45 bucks down the drain.

Bring it back to GameStop and f*cking demand they give your money back. Talk to whomever it takes, even if they have to get the boss on the phone. Its "policies" like this that create the problems with the industry releasing games that are shit. Believe me, if you are persistent, they will give you a refund.

Patch working fine so far here, had no real game-stoping issues prior to patching either...(Running under WinXP-ATI)

Love the game and don't mind starting over.

You are wrong sir. In fact store managers can get fired for returning PC games new that are opened. Actually they can get fired for a lot of things. With strict anti-piracy laws how would they know you did not copy the CD-Key and DL the game?

Most they should do is a straight exchange. Also, if you become an asshole about it and their policy they can refuse you service just like that.

It was your decision to buy it and if you feel it was your mistake perhaps you should have thought a little bit harder when you buy things.

Sure you may get your money back if you complain enough but that doesn't change the fact that no one forced you to buy it and you have only yourself to blame. This is not any retailer's fault, only your own.

It sucks about that. No matter where you go it says "no open software returns." The most you WILL ever get is an exchange for the same software. The game sucked in beta, so I didn't even touch it on the shelves.

very dissapointed.

Actually, no I'm not wrong. To the best of my knowledge, software is still covered under article 2 of the UCC, under the Implied warranty section which states in effect that goods sold through a merchant are warranteed for the ordinary purpose that such goods are used. If it doesn't run, it doesn't suit it intended purpose, regardless of whatever policies some company has, and regardless of who can be fired (which is another legal issue). Unless you agree that you will not return such goods regardless of quality, you can return it.

There is also the idea of "customer service", something that is certainly lost on deaf ears as of late. A video game store has a relatively selective group that shops from them. You offend the group, and they will go elsewhere. I could order all my games off the net, I don't because I get excellent service from my local gamestop. If i hate a game, I return it, no questions asked. If I want cash, I need a receipt, otherwise its credit. They know I'll be back in a couple weeks.

I used to work in your line of business, and the store I worked for lost a lot of good money because they weren't willing to adjust policy for their best customers. Let a manager know if they treat you like wal-mart would, you won't be coming back, and you will get results. Otherwise, find a new place to do business, its simple.

Here in Oregon there used to be a couple of places you could return buggy games for a cash refund. Now they cannot even though they would like to. I have talked to a couple managers of different stores and they told me it is a state law that opened software cannot be returned at all. If there is an issue then you have to take it up with the distributer. The two most recent places that changed there policy because of this law are Gamestop and Software etc.

Which is what I think what I was talking about. I used to work for EB Games but they did get taken over by Gamestop and there has been major policy changes. Some for the better but mostly for the worse of consumers and associates. They do know how to make money though, thats for damn sure.

While I do care a lot about customer satisfaction they are constantly pushing things on us and it becomes a balance of not getting fired and not pissing off the customer. The sh*t pay doesn't help either, so if you find someone who is actually nice to you, don't be a b*tch customer because truthfully, they don't get paid nearly enough for that stuff.

Your best bet is to be nice, seriously. I'm sure they care about your business, especially if your in there a lot, and if your nice it will be easier for them to help you out. If your are screaming and demanding they always have the right to refuse you business.

Edit: My major point is, if your a customer that shops at a certain place you should know their policy or at least ask for it when you do buy items from there. I've never had a single problem with any returning customers, even if they have only been in there twice. Usually most problems arise when some either doesn't know the policy or is just angry about something and decides to take it out on the associate.

Its like breaking the law and demanding not to be punished for it because you didn't know about it. Sure that sounds good but its still wrong.

I personally care for customer service and I have seen that go down the drain a lot of times at Gamestop. But you probably shouldn't purchase something till you have done a decent amount of research on it first. I have never returned a single game or anything to a retailer or expected to.

Sure you may get your money back if you complain enough but that doesn't change the fact that no one forced you to buy it and you have only yourself to blame. This is not any retailer's fault, only your own.

BULLSHIT! Its not my fault to assume a game was properly tested and designed to work without my having to go through hoops to get it to run. I can't believe noone else called you out on this statement. Have you looked into this random crash/freeze issue?.. no I didn't think so. Its not just a handfull of users that you can write off as pc noobs with broke rigs, overheating or user error, its common and it leaves the buyer with a useless purchase and not a thing to do about it. I WANT to play this game.. and from what I can play (1-5 min at a time) I know I'll like it. The game runs so smooth I seems like I have plently of headroom to put on the HDR feature..so its not my rig.. the game runs PERFECT except it keeps freezing on me when I least expect it to. Extremely frustrating!

I'm with SFOSOK on this one, you guys are blaming the game maker and want your money back but your reasons aren't valid. The game is buggy, that's not in dispute, when you add Vista and 8800 series into the equation the bug factor is multiplied. The game does work for many people without series issues and you can't claim the you were sold a faulty product.
