I got that because I didn't right the key in the same exact way... Make sure you write in capitals and all!

If any of you are not sure if you have the latest build do this:

Start the game, go to Options, highlight GAME, and then click on Check for Updates.

Other than that, does anyone know how to check which build we do have? I've been trying to locate that little bit of information.

Well. I finally got a chance to dl & play this last night. After a bit of trouble figuring out what the CD key was (I kept trying to use the key that Zardon gave me. Doh...) the game installed & ran pretty well. I cranked up all the settings & things looked very nice. Moved cleanly and I didn't have any problems other than the fact that I suck at FPS's. I only got to play one setting so I want to check out more later on but the one I played was great, I love being able to go pretty much everywhere. Lots of places to hide & climb. The weapons & item options look great - specially if they expand before release. One comment soemone made previously that I REALLY want to second is that they need to do something so that ammo is more clearly matchable with the various weapons. I spent WAY too much time trying to figure out which box of shells to buy to go with the various weapons I was purchasing.

I would never pick this game up for it's multi player aspect. I just suck at FPS too much. I would however buy this at some point if the solo game was really well done with say a 40 hour game play expectancy. I love what of the setting and concept I've seen.

I had no problems with install, graphics, game play (see above sucking reference) or general enjoyment.

Anyone interested in seeing a movie? I did a little experiment last night. I chose a server without anyone else just so I could get some video of the environments. I was just fooling around a bit but thought maybe a few of you would be interested in seeing how it looks and plays. I'm using ATT to show FPS in the upper right corner.

In order to get the entire screen on the video, I had to use 1024x768 as I'm using two computers and capturing using the TV OUT option of the game system.

Those framerates on 1024... I can count on even less fps with my 7800GTX though so I will getting an 8800GTS very soon hopefully. Decided on that today...

Were you running on absolute maxed out settings there?

Stalker looks awesom in game. I hate the sound it makes when you walk. The walking sound is so cheesy, when you walk you kind of wobble like your a bobble head or something. Im sure we can make a better walking sound. Other than that it looks great.

but sorry mates. thats a joke, graphic, gameplay, performance, the hole concept of the multiplayer part are nearly not worth to comment.

Thats my big bug with it the footsteps are just WAYYYYY to loud and 90% of the time sound like your on metal even if its plastic concrete etc

im running build 1008, and from what i can tell thats the current one.

All the servers are running 1008.
People are just sick of those two maps.
Also I think allot of people are having latency issues and find it difficult to play. Hell most everybody on the servers have pings over 200ms and some above 300 and even 400ms and wonder why they are laggy.

I am looking at the server list and there are eleven people playing world wide with no players on the four US servers. I tried finding a couple games yesterday also and there were no players either.
The first week or so that I played the beta the pings were stupid high for most players and that was all they were bitching about so I am assuming that is why nobody is playing. They were also bitching about being sick of the maps already so I am also assuming that as being part of the reason also.
Even when I created my own public servers everybody that joined had pings in the 200ms to 300ms range. It was so bad that it wasn't even fun killing everybody.
I personally have pings in the 40's on the west coast servers and 80 to 100 on the east coast servers. The reason I am not playing is there are no people to play with unless I join a UK server and then I am the one with 200 to 300ms pings.

i am amazed howpoorly the game runs on my pc, i set everything to medium and 800x600 and it ran like crap, then i put it to static lighting, minimum quality, and 800x600, there it finally worked. Is this a beta issue or this how the game is going tobe.
I understand that my gfx sucks but that shouldnt really impact it that much, well w/e.
I just wanna know if this is a issue i am going to face if i buy the game at its release and i wanna know if there is going to be another beta and that my key would work for that, thanks
I dont like the gmae only becuase the map is small, but it is mp, so i dont blame it, i wish they gave you a sigle player mode with like two missions, but they dont

Not to be rude, but that card is really holding you back. Also Dell brand ram usually means the slowest ram they could use and still have the system run.
And yes, the difference between dynamic lighting and static lighting is very dramatic for some reason. It will most likely not be as dramatic is the final release, I hope.

your video card has a MAJOR impact on performance. like i mentioned earlier, that card is not meant for gameing in any real way, shape, or form. unless you count solitare and the other built in windows games.

theres just no 2 ways around it, that card can not handle any graphics intensive games. it has next to nothing in available bandwidth and processing power.

the final release may run a LITTLE bit better on your system when it finaly comes out, but dont expect to see a worlds diffrence between now and then.

After thinking I would not have time - I spent a fair amount of time trying the multiplayer beta. Quite enjoyed it, but I suck at multiplayer. Am looking forward to trying the game. Thanks to Zardon for the key!

I know that sounds a bit harsh, but, after reading some about the specs of that 7300LE, I can understand just WHY this game/beta won't run well with setting and resolution turned up.

I most likely will not play anymore because there are hardly any players on the US servers anymore. If you would like my key to be able to play to at least see whats up then just post back and I will PM it to you. I will uninstall it then.

exactly. the one benchmark i found for this card showed HL2 struggleing to run on this card with no AA @ 1024x768. with 4xAA enabled, the game was completly unplayable.

the card is basicly made for people that dont need a video card, but dont want to deal with problematic onboard video.

the problem when i talked to him though is his limited budget and he needs 2 major upgrades. the system is a prebuilt dell and is running on a tiny little 350w PSU. if hes going to upgrade to a beefier video card, hes going to need a much better powersupply or that systems going ot become unstable.

as i told you earlier, your system has a ton of potential. if you intend on useing that system has a gameing system, you have to upgrade that video card and powersupply. i would suggest saveing up a sizeable amount of money and buying a good quality PSU, and a good video card.

right now your system is the equivalent of a Ferrari with a 3 Cylinder from a Geo Metro in it.

ok thanks, and i figured out the exact problem with the green sky.
The sky is not being rendered AT ALL. When it is very rarely, it is green, but often, it looks like when you win solitare, the image of the surrounding city repeats all over the sky when i move the crosshair

i hope you understand what imean when you win solitaire. the sky is not rendered at all on the lowest settings, every single hole in the wood or concrete that you can see the sky is even filled up with extra image. i didnt know that the 7300le sucked so bad, so for anyone with a 7300le, dont get it!

Just ran a quick bench for those with older cards interested in performance.

My system,
Athlon X2 4400+, stock
2 GB Corsair RAM
7800GTX @ 475, 1250 (93.81 betas)
Windows XP x64 (fresh install, updated, defrag performed)

First I started a LAN Game to play by myself
Railway station, clear/raining weather, Maximum EVERYTHING (AA disabled as it won't work with dynamic lighting), 1280*1024.

The game ran steady at 55-60 fps at any place on the map, using FRAPS. This gives me a good indication of what it will run like in SP mode (it looks brilliant BTW).

Running the game online in a room with 8 others, same settings, same map, clear weather, ping around 80. The highest FPS i saw was about 45fps, Lowest was about 18-20, average in the low 30's, high 20's. It was playable, but it was hard to be accurate.
