It seems the text box in the menu is strange, just use the LEFT shift key and you'll be just fine;D

Does anyone notice that over time, performance seems to degrade?

Last night, it seemed that after a few minutes of gameplay, frames were dropping and things seemed a bit clunky. Probably some memory leaks or something to that effect.

Ya memory leaks are definately present... One game I was at 45 frames... then 4....

Great god.

I thought my eyesight is getting worse, but actually it got darker in game

What a relief.

I love the game so far, I hope the singleplayer story will be good.

I just hope the netcode and sounds will be improved in the final version. It runs great though. 1280x1024 all settings max.

Will definitely buy it.

omg,

this game looks sick and actually plays smoothly on this system.

2560x1600, with (not sure what FSAA, but i moved it one notch up from nothing in game) EVERY video option enabled and slider maxed to it's fullest.

i couldn't get fraps to give me a frame rate, but going by what i was seeing, i would have to guess under worse case senario, it would be about 15fps. Oddly, my setup works backwards to the way you guys were talking, the performance is horrid to start off with, but ones you move throughout the lvl a little bit, the fps takes a very considerable jump to probably a sustainable 60fps and doesn't seem to move at all..

Here heres a screenshot, love the lightning and lighting effects.. utterly amazing...

The only thing that is kinda turning me off is that when it's trying to load or connect, it doesn't really give you any indication that something is happening, almost like it's locked up, a animation or SOMETHING would be nice while loading/connecting.

i wish i could disable JPEG screenshot taking and get a good quality one... i'll play around, but i must say, i don't think FSAA is working at all. (i've tried forcing it within the CCC as well)

BTW, this is vista ultimate 32bit.

Seeing how we actually got the keys from here, how far can we go with the discussion? There are allot of people getting warned on other sites about talking about the beta outside of the official beta forum on Fileplanet. Most of you know I do not care about the NDA, I just don't want to get in trouble here. lol

Anyone consider making a .torrent file of the beta client? Not like anyone can use it w/out a key anyways. Downloading it now myself I can't wait!

I just now finished installing Windows Vista Home Premium (Full!) and got the box working...and then I won a key! Woo hoo *drools and grins with anticipation is the file downloads*

it really annoys me when the server crashes and no one cant shoot no one,it happened to me about 4 ,5 times . and all the other players on the server confirmed it as well

Ya that happened to me once too... Was wierd... I thought it was because I was sucked in a vortex but lol, that wasn't the case.

That is pretty much how I feel about it.
I think the enviroments are very pretty and the effects are nice as well. I of course have all the same perf. issues as everyone else(high in empty servers, low in pop. etc) But the gameplay in MP mode anyway just doesnt excite me. I REALLY hope the SP story is deep and well thought out because moving thru these enviroments will be amazing but so far there is nothing of interest for me in MP so far. I never liked CSS and the MP feels far to much like it.
TBH I picked up BF2142 this weekend much to my own surprise

(My wife has recently been moving back and forth between it and BF2 and we used to BF2 together quite a bit)I hadnt played BF2 in almost a year and stopped out of pure aggravation between the bugs and the constant dirty tactics using some of the same bugs.
So Im actually enjoying it and trying not to let it let my blood boil like BF2 used too("some" of those same bugs are still present of course but big ones like Red/Blue bug are not present anymore)
I was bored of the STALKER MP after about 20-25 minutes. Pretty much once I had seen all of the maps and had shot and been shot a few times, I had seen enough to see there was nothing terribly new or refreshing in the MP aspect of this game to grab my attention, I mean Artifact is just CTF and there isnt really all that much outside of that that isnt really the same as CS or any other straight FPS shooter.
As I said I REALLY REALLY hope the SP storyline is really well done because I wanna spend more time in those wonderful enviroments, I just dont wanna feel like Im playing CS to do it.

Too bad. I dont like the game

The multiplayer is so chaotic, there is no systematisation at all. It's even worse than classic deathmatch mode because you'll have to buy your weapons...Like, I earned 4.6k running around with pistol only. That took some time but i got the money. Then i bought expensive armor, sniper and some nades and thought: "Hell yeah, now i'm gonna snipe some ass!". I spawn, 2 seconds, i'm dead, there goes my sniper. WOOOT! I buy good equipment again, I spawn, i'm DEAD AGAIN!!! Doesnt that piss you off like hell?

More of the bad side, game runs really bad. It doesnt matter to me if I crank up the settings to High or strip everything to minimum. There is no difference in FPS, only loading time decreases maybe 5-10 seconds. Thats it. FPS is still low 30 and every time I meet someone, FPS drops to unbearable 10. Therefore I'm not able to kill anyone.
More badmouthing STALKER:Maps suck! They are so chaotic and they feel like randomly generated. Chaotic isn't really that bad because they fit the mood of the game but it's not fun to play on those maps. Spawn points are so random and you can't choose where to spawn. Btw, whats the deal with those electric storm thingies?

The good: Graphics look nice. Very realistic and they create a mood. Weapons also feel as they were real. Superb work has been done with them.

Since it's only a beta, i hope they can improve those crappy aspects of the game. Priority should be fixing the chaotic multiplayer.

AFter having played it for awhile now I have to say a few things bugged the crap out of me during MP and I will post these on the beta forums in a bit.

The environments I know are supposed to be "quiet" to set the "mood" but they are just TOO quiet. The weapons every single one of them sounds like they have an uber silencer on them. The only way I knew I was being shot at was A) I died and B) I could hear ricochets. Even up close the ricochets are louder than the actual shots.

The buy menu SUCKS for multiplayer.

It took me TEN MINUTES to figure out what ammunition went with what gun and how I had to use it. It's like they took the Fallout "inventory" system and implemented it into a multiplayer game. That in of itself is enterily too cumbersom. Sure there is the "buy last" option but ya know I shouldn't have to spend 15 minutes trying ot figure out what ammo goes with what gun by reading the "detailed" information after clicking on something. Man that drives me nuts!

The other thing that gets me is it is virtually impossible to see the bad guy unless they are right up on you. It could just be me, as BF2 et al was the same way, but a little more difference rather than a similar colored uniform with one w/ a green arm band the other w/ nothing. A little bit more "color" would be helpful.

The only other complaint I have is I could not find any graphical options other than "high, med, low" et all. Is there any other settings?

Yeah press the "advanced" button on the same tab and then you have tons of mroe choices to bring your system to its knees
