Hows the actual gameplay? its obviously not death match? w00t! whats this i see about an artifact?

(despite my previous posts, overheating isn't the issue here)

I've played with the setings every which way, but still the game is unplayable. when I'm in game i can't read the Buy menu's, they're all pixilated, and it jumps and jerks around like it's on freaking acid.
I'm using the specs on my left here (and like I said, even though I said before my fans were acting up , our house is freezing and I've been using a hardware monitor, and nothing is straying above 55°C)
help please, am I doing something unspeakably stupid??
2MB unlimited broadband btw.

richy, maybe try a fresh video driver install,first i would try with everything in the CP/CCC on default if ya havent, mine just started downloading now, bout a half hour or so!

EDIT, yer GPU fan is on though right?

i would try the CP/CCC at default though first as to avoid the hassle if need be. but if they're real old drivers its probably worth it. Just thought,(whoops) hope this runs on xp x64, any one ruunin the beta on it?

i had that same kind of pixilation problem with warhammer 40k. i had cat AI set to high, when i set it back to low it solved the problem. dont know if your running it on high or not, so that may or may not apply to you.

also about the settings. what from what i can tell, applying them in game doesnt do a damn thing. you have to restart the game each time you change something for it to take affect. if i was you, i would set the lighting to static, detail to minium, and go into the advanced options and turn everything to either off or down as far as it can go. hit apply and then restart the game.

an x800 AIW and pro are pretty close to the same i think. with everything at those settings i was getting 90-200fps @ 1024x768 in an empty server.

that reminds me, DO NOT PLAY ON LARGE SERVERS. their net code is god awful and the game becomes unplayable on heavily populated servers. stay on about 16 player or smaller. i dont know how or why it affects fps, but it does. on small servers that have about 16 players i can run the game set on Medium, static lights, and 4xAA and stay around 40fps. if i go into a large server im lucky to break 30 at those settings. of course then on an empty server im doing 70+.

I run it in medium settings at 1280x1024 resolution and it runs fine. Sometimes server is so jammed that it lag a bit..

I cannot get past the Key authentication stage i get the invalid code message

I think spawn killing is going to be a really big problem is this game. It is nice to be able to have the time to buy your weapons but once you walk outside of the bases boarder then there are a few snipers from all different direction ready to drop me.
I also find it very hard to kill anyone with a ping over 200ms if I am on a server where I have a low ping like 30 to 60ms. I find this to be true in allot of new games though, almost like the net code was written to give those high ping players an advantage. It really aggravates me that someone with 200 to 300ms latency can totally dominate a server of low latency players.
I even made up a name for them, " Lag Killers From Hell ".
Does anybody besides me get CSS flashbacks while playing this demo? I am not saying that in a bad way , it just feels like it to me. I never really got into CSS that much, not because it is a bad game, it is a great game, but because of the type of people that play it. I hope this game attracts a different type of player, over the age of 10 to 13 would be nice.

hmm tried another pc with Xp and a 2k machine but this hasnt worked ..... could this be a proxy issue as opposed to just a cookie issue

Runs smoooooth on 8800GTX, WinXP, 97.92.

AA isnt being applied..
1920*1200, almost all maxed, rest are close to max.

this games is fantastic i cant stop playing it!its nice that u have to frag some people b4 u start using the good weapons,the weather effect is also very good its wicked when the sky goes dark and its a pain when u get sucked by the windstorm .

The game is actually really pretty for being on an older engine. I actually like the look of it probably better than any game currently out. The MP is a bit vanilla, but it brings me back to my days of playing MOHAA. Runs great on my machine, 1280*1024 maxed out, with light AA. It is very hard to shoot people with a lower ping than you, though I hope it is something they fix before release (or with a patch). Other than that, the game realyl is attractive, the environment is beautiful, lets hope the SP experience is all its cracked up to be.

just got back from trying at my in laws house and have the same problem there , i cannot get past that invalid code page , my mum in laws pc has no firewall or pop up software save the inbuilt windows ones and i disabled those

... have one more idea to try and if that fails i will have to send the key back to Zardon to give to somone else

From the beta so far it feels like an old fun shooter. Kinda something we have lost with all this "next gen" crap.

Take out the Mclaggers but firing ahead of them.

Agreed, it is very refreshing. Great environments to just wander around and shoot people.

yeah I think they are working on the net code while people play it, im sure it will improve.

@ Vikingod - I used to love MOHAA as well, classic FPS online game. that sure brings back some good memories.

it was probably the most immersive online game I've played to date. . If Stalker can take that gameplay and update it, which they seem to have done so far, it would be a win for them.

The key to MOHAA was the environments and the weapons. Each weapon offered something different and everything had a purpose. The environments were fun, and each unique. Something that games like COD didn't really offer in my opinion. Tonight I hope to give a couple other levels a shot on Stalker to see what they are like. I think I played the train yards and the factory levels, and each was fun. Though I do hope they fix the net code, I hardly had a kill last night (and I'm blaming that on them

).

well thanks to Who Knows i am up and running and so far it seems pretty sweet ... only complaint after 5 minutes of play is the sound of the players footsreps is a little loud

some great deaths though electrocution , fire and sniper

i like it and hope the SP is as good
