Splinter Cell
If don't have Splinter Cell yet, then to the store and pick it up. I just got from Best Buy for $39.95.
This game takes PC gaming to whole new level...

I don't know if it takes PC gaming to another level. I have the xbox version, and it's great. It's an awesome game, but not a huge leep for pc gaming. A huge leap for console gaming yes, but not PC.
Doom 3 will be the next game to elevate PC gaming to the extreme.

I agree with Naumo, the gameplay is nothing exceptional, the graphics I hear are amazing but my computer can't run the highest of quality so I couldn't do see... well I can probably see it but not play with it. The gameplay is a classic espionage type game. Metal Gear Solid was a good breaktrhough.

$39.95???!!! What a f**cking waste! (Excuse my language)
Damn, man 5 more cents and u could have got urself 2 dubs. What am I saying, you paid well over $40 with tax. I already got the first 2 CD's and the 3rd one is downloading. In a few hours, and $0 later, I too will have it. But then again, that's just my way of doing things. P2P programs rock, if u know how to use them properly. Anyway, I've heard so much about Doom III coming out. Damn tho, not till 10/31 that's a long a$$ time.
Here's some other nice games on my [to download] list:
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance - 3/4
Delta Force: Black Hawk Down - 3/24
Serious Sam Gold - 4/1
Red Faction 2 - 4/7
GTA: Vice City - 5/15
SWAT: Urban Justice - 6/14
Driver 3 - 9/1
Half-Life: CS: CZ - 11/1
Correction: ...In a few minutes, and $0 later, I too will have it...

Yep, I got it. And I still have my $40. No kidding, I do. Been downloading for days until today I found just the perfect FTP server to download from. Got the entire thing in a few hours. The speed was above 100 Kb/S the whole time so it was nice, very nice. Now that I do have it, I am willing to share this private FTP server with a limited amount of people, assuring high transfer rates for everyone. (dont want the 43.00 driver slow download thing happening all over again) Especially that this is a private FTP server which is only available to the most l337 people out there, i.e. ME. Damn straight! I don't see anyone else bragging.
EDIT: My PM box is empty....HINT...HINT...

No offense, but you noobs don't know how to work the system when it comes to that thing... I had Splinter Cell P2P the night I wanted it with 150+ transfer. Of course I then paid $40 for it... did I? For the record that's what the companies NEED to know.

What day was this because I've been trying to get it for like 3 days and I found the best place for it today. Trust me, I know how to work the system.

Well I paid for the game Friday for $40.xx plus tax and yes I could of downloaded it too. I don't mind spending some money on great software. P2P sucks in my opinion..it's just having the right friends. Poor, Poor 420 you have to pay that much..jeez!! I don't even smoke or like the stuff and I can get it for free.

Heh, I don't have to pay that much but that's the going price on the street. Let's not get into that though. I didn't buy weed or that game with my money. It's just chillin in my wallet and everyday more and more money is in there. I wouldn't waste that kind of money on weed. The most I would spend is like $10 but for right now I don't have to pay sh¡t cuz I burn CDs for my D and he hooks me up.]
EDIT: Great game though, eh?

Great game indeed. However, ever try playing it than the new Rainbox Six III demo..talk about screwed up!! Sucks when you haven't played this game in a very long time (the first one) and don't remember squat about the keyboard layout.

And the $64,000 question is..........
....does this game support an honest-to-goodness, sit-back-and-relax, non-carpal-tunnel causing controller on the PC version? Or does it expect you to play hunched over the keyboard and mouse?
This will pretty much be the determining factor as to whether I bother with this game or not. I ain't gonna bother with it if it expects you play with that KB&M crapola.
As for the $40 pricetag deal.....pffft....I can buy multitudes of high-quality, 80minute, 48X CDR's for that price. I will either wait for the price to drop.....or until the download finishes, whichever comes first.

All the buttons on my controller are near each other too.
I don't mind so much having to use the keyboard to save the game or check inventory or whatever, and the mouse is fine for those 'high-precision' targeting situations and selecting stuff out of menus. But I can't stand these "so-called" action games that instantly assume that EVERYBODY actually likes playing with the KB & M and don't even offer the OPTION of using a controller, that's ridiculous. I mean C'mon!! They had to actually REMOVE the controller support that was already there before they ported it from the X-Box? And the X-box, I might add, is just a close-ended PC that ONLY plays games made specifically for it. But, I'm sorry, 640x480 resolutions just don't do it for me anymore.
I'm tired of having to create a controller profile just because the programmers are too lazy to add DirectInput support in their PC version games.
Aerowinder, don't take my comments personally, this 'KB & M for gaming' crap is a pet-peeve of mine and it grates on my nerves. If you really LIKE playing a game that way, enjoy. But I can't deal with it.
Too bad, it looks like this could have been a cool game with all those shadow effects and whatnot. Oh, well......

Then how would you play Counter-Strike, tell me that! Anyway, I'm pretty close to passing the game myself. I'm on the second to last mission. I could have passed it the same day I got it but I decided that I wanted to have something to do each day so I play a little at a time. It's more fun that way. And of course I play other games to keep me busy.

Simple, I don't. I have somewhere in the vicinity of 4 copies of CS that came with hardware and have never bothered to check it out (all 4 CD's are still virgins, never been installed) simply because it's just another FPS in my opinion.
BTW, checked out Splinter Cell, I'm not impressed. While the shadows are a nice gimmick, it otherwise didn't seem all that impressive graphically. It ran decent enough with all options maxed at 1024x768 for me though. Just not my kind of game, I guess.
I guess I'm just becoming very jaded as a gamer anymore, games just don't hold my interest like they used to, they ALL just seem like "been there, done that". I'm beginning to think that gaming is just a page in my life that I'm done with now. I have that 'ate-up' feeling nowadays where nothing is interesting, nothing really matters. Maybe I'm goin' nuts or something. I'm about to the point of throwing the PC out the window and forgetting about it and finding something else to occupy my time. But what......(sigh)

Sounds to me like you need to do something creative. Maybe time to start working on your own games, or even software?

What I'd really like to do is setup and upgrade PC's for a living. But I don't have any formal training, nor can I afford to pay for any. No one will hire me to do that without that "piece of paper" that says I know what I'm doing.
My programming skills are zilch, it's not really an interest for me. I can tweak a system, install NoCD fixes for the games and such. And I have built, setup and tweaked many dozens of systems over the years for friends and family , and even a few "clients". But when it comes to the program code, I'm a retard. The best I could hope for, as far as software development, is to be an idea man, a storyboarder. But the line for those kinds of jobs are 20 miles long.
I think I'm just outgrowing games.
Maybe I just need some female "software" to help change my outlook on life. I've become quite cynical, sarcastic, bitter and anti-social in my middle age. I'm tired of software developers pigeonholing ALL PC gamers as people that want to only play FPS's and strategy type games and expect us to use the keyboard and mouse to play them. Instead they favor the console systems with the lifespan of a hamster to release all the FUN games on.
If those console systems didn't sell, those FUN games would be coming out on the pc. I am of the opinion that anyone that owns a PC and buys a console system is stabbing themselves in the back.
The more I complain about it, the more I realise that I am definitely in the minority on this point.
I'll stop babbling off-topic now.
