SO I got my brother a DS Lite for his birthday...then I thought "wow this looks cool I'll buy myself one" We like to play games togeather on our GBAs so why not, right?

WRONG

We play our DS link games just fine...

but nowhere, ANYWHERE on the box did it say that we couldnt play our GBA link games. I mean comeon...its got wireless...why can't they link over wireless?! Why not?!?!!?

what a lame piece of garbage. Who designed this?! It waits until you've opened the box and are required to now pay a 15% restocking fee if you're unhappy with these problems.

I dearly hope that someone makes a hack for this because I find this unacceptable.

Sorry, but I'm going to type for you what's on the back of my Nintendo DS Lite box.

If you go to nintendo's website, whenever they talk about the DS, they always mention GBA in single player mode. They told you. It's on the box. Get over it and frag your brother in metroid prime hunters.

well...I do enjoy my games...its just a huge drag about it. in fine print on the back of the DS it says only single player mode. thats kinda shifty.

Oh well I'm ordering a mod chip for mine tonight so I can play homebrew games homebrew AIM, homebrew internet browser (though theres one thats gunna be sold in the US soon) and then emulators being developed like crazy.

I'm pumped.

I guess I just have to hang onto my SP for awhile though.

Think about it this way though, it could always be worse. I mean, you could have bought a GBA Micro only to realise it didn't work with GBA and GC connectivity and required you to modify the cable. Some people were quite unhappy of that (although a very small minority).

I just can't wait for FFIII, Children of Mana, and FF:CC to get released. If anything should drive you to buy a DS, these should do it. If not . . . well then you're just too hard to please

The problem with the GBA games is they can't work over WiFi. They require a much more stable connection than WiFi can offer. That is why the RF wireless add-on for the GBA also could only work with games specifically designed to use it. They are not trying to gype anyone, it is a hardware limitation. It also can't play original GB or GBC games, since those require an additional processor (the GBA had a second processor for these games). But it can play GBA cartridges, which its competitor cannot.

lol the ds sucks, i dont understand why ppl wanna play on 2 miniscule screens with archaic graphics. thats why i got a psp instead.

thats not true. I got RF add-ons for my SP and it worked great. there werent any game limitations mentioned whatsoever. We play mario kart and Zelda and Advance wars over RF just fine...

and really how is wifi unstable? We use it for PC games which are much higher bandwidth.

I understand about the GB and GBC hardware limitation but theres ways around that (the homebrew community already has an emulator up and running for that and it works quite well. GBC games run fine on the DS)

I suspect that there'll be stuff like the pokemon collection for DS which'll be re-makes of a ton of GB and GBC pokemon games etc...they probably want to increase sales.

dont get me wrong...I love my DS. In fact I love it more because of all the homebrew apps for it (the web browser and AIM programs are the first to be added) but seriously I think that nintendo shortchanged this nice piece of hardware.

i can't beleive how long the batteries last in the ds lite and not to mention that the brightness on the lcds have proven even more versitile that i had thought. Very excellent. more bonus points for the ds in my book

It's all about fun. In many's opinions (mine included), the DS has more fun games. It's the River City Ransom(NES) VS. The Bouncer(PS2) debate. Both similar games, world of difference with graphics, but RCR was fun, while the Bouncer was absolute hell.

Both are killer machines in their own respect. I own both, and my DS still gets way more play.

It's a shame they cut out the plug on the Lite that allowed you to still play GBA games multiplayer with a cord, that exists on the original DS.

Burnout for teh win!!!!...granted it's also one of the best racing games ever made, in terms of amusement value without delving 14 hours into it [like you have to to enjoy Toca and Gran Turismo]...that's like comparing mario and crash bandicoot

I think that the point i was trying to make was the fact that both systems are good, but for different purposes. I'm quite disappointed in the support the PSP is getting right now. So much potential going to waste, IMO.

Ports to both systems are horrid for the DS, you're right. (Need for Speed for the DS makes me want to kick puppies, whereas it was brilliant on the PSP)

Conversely, show me a FPS on the PSP that can even come close to Metroid for the DS.

The thing is, no matter what we do, the portable market is going to be a primarily kid's market. The DS seems to have the more kid-friendly schtick going for it, which is what Nintendo has always had the flair for. Even the Angry Anime Finger-Pointing Lawyer-Man game is a good time (can't remember the name of the damn thing)

Now, i've caught myself blabbering on, and have completely lost my point. Oh well, half hour left of work
