F.E.A.R. Multiplayer to be FREE!

08-08-2006 - Sierra Entertainment today announced that the multiplayer component from the award winning PC title F.E.A.R.™ (First Encounter Assault Recon), has been renamed F.E.A.R. Combat, and will be made available to the public as a free download on Thursday August 17th, 2006.
F.E.A.R. Combat is the complete multiplayer component of F.E.A.R. and includes all the updates, additional official maps and additional official game modes all in one downloadable file. F.E.A.R. Combat users will be able to play against the owners of the retail version of F.E.A.R. as well as the other F.E.A.R. Combat users.
F.E.A.R. Combat features:
- 10 Multiplayer Game modes.
- 19 Multiplayer Maps.
- 12 different weapons.
- Punkbuster support for anti cheat support.
- The capability to download user generated content.
To play F.E.A.R. Combat, consumers simply go to www.joinfear.com and register to obtain their free, Combat keycode. When the file is made available for download on Aug 17th 2006, consumers can install, enter their keycode, and get ready to join F.E.A.R. Combat! F.E.A.R. Combat will be available for download on August 17th 2006.

I dont play it online as much as i should but it is a beasting game

thank goodness they give a torrent file, I'm forever shutting down and losing downloads without thinking.

well they will have a data base your name, your email ,
your adress and D.O.B. as well as IP info. Wich is worth quite
alot to them marketing wise, the data from the survey again
makes it better.
The other reason you need a CD type key or how would punkbuster
ban/kick cheaters?

good god, anybody know of a reliable mirror with decent download speeds?
I was hoping to play this before the weekend was up, but at this rate....
I'm getting around 10kbps at gamespot, useless

I got mine from fileshack in around 2 hours (10mb conection) even though i am only registered with them for free which is capped at 5mb.
As mentioned Gamershell's server are usually good.

Mine took a while to dl through no fault of gamershell, im currently on a wireless connection and only connected about 1/3 of my 5mb connection.
Installing now.

well thanks for the info guys, but it looks like windows isn't happy
booted linux, and I'm getting decent down speeds (6 hours instead of six days lol), but same servers on my windows installation slower than a mofo
gonna set one of the other comps downloading (gamershell seems to be pretty fast  ) and start virus scanning this pile of..

thanks for the filefront link  . i was getting a connection speed slower than dialup on sierra's servers
(was too lazy to register to anybody else, and from the looks of it, probably a good thing i didn't)

I used the torrent link, about 7 hours altogether, started off really slow...(2Mb connection), when are we getting a game going??? Haven't installed it yet so don't know about servers and things but we should get a DH game going. Just all put DH infront of our nicks so we know who we're fragging.
