Mobility Radeon 9600/9700 128mb driver

i own a toshiba desktop replacemnt 17inch notebook that is 2 years old. Counter Strike Source works on it with extremely minimal graphics lag. Sometimes a steam message comes up that says drivers need to be updated. I have not downloaded anything yet for this card. Will a new driver make the game run smoother and/or faster and if so wat is it called and where can i get it. It is very important that the driver does not contain any viruses as i have some very sensative information on my comuter.
