Even with the recommended settings except for the dx10 cause I don't think i'll be using vista anytime in the next five years. Even with that out of the way, I think it will run ok on my rig. Even though the recommended setting are kind of high, I think that pushing the level of detail higher will make us all happy, even if we have to upgrade. I think sometimes you just have to say the hell with it and just go with the fun factor of some games. I think this game will be awesome and fun and kickass and hope my rig will hold up, even if it doesnt, the game will still be worth a pricey upgrade and or new build.

.....i want to upgrade my RAM too, but i'm debating it whether i should or not, as DDR is starting to leave the scene.
at this point, and upgrades i'll do to my system, will be things that i can take over into my next rig. stuff like HDDs and PSU.

Has anyone found a way to shield themselves from the horrible plots of games and movies?

More like a Dear Santa list. Lottery win or some multi-millionaire deciding he wants to give me his fortune, either way it's living in the realms of fantasy. It will be a good few years before I can do an upgrade of that magnitude.

you have to keep in mind when its coming out and that there will be a major OS change during that time. I think windows and all the DX10 games are expecting everyone to upgrade at the same time.

i know i'll be upgrading around that time. well, at least i hope to be. it'll all depend on how i'm doing.
conroe 2.4Ghz
4Gb RAM
x1900xt/7900GTX or better
OCZ GamerXtreme 700watt PSU
that should be about right. but i won't get ANY of that until after i get my dell 2407wfp monitor

Well I'll have quite a bit of money saved up from my training and I'll be done with all that roughly around the release of vista and Crysis. So I think I'll pick up the most expensive DX10 laptop I can find. SLI and Dual Core of course (Unless ATI impliments something better)

I just got done playing Call Of Juarez Demo with everything on high and my video card was laggy, so if that sucks that much on the demo I don't think I have a chance with crysis, so I might by-pass it also until i have a machine that doesn't suck.

People upgraded gpus or got completely new systems for doom3 and hl2 around the time of their release. Heck bf2 was probably responsible for sales of 2gigs of ram. So like tech, games advance and become hungry like the wolf and what do we do... feed them. I too am looking to built a new rig, maybe sooner, maybe later and at some point i'll be able to run crysis for sure. I don't mind getting it, if it turns out to be a good game, later on after it's release. Even now i play older games full throttle and it rocks, so one day i'll do the same for crysis.
Personaly i would love a game to be released which catered to the high-end users. A game for gold members only. Min specs: Dual core 2.6, 2 gigs of ram, sli or cf, x-ram, physx and... and... i-ram!

yes, a game like that would be wanted to be played by all. but not all would want to play it. it wouldn't be until at least a good two or three years later when newer technology is out and is cheaper than "top of the line" technology today when those who cannot spend 2 grand on a system would then be able to play some of those games.
