Gothic II US Gold edition - major problems

Before I snap these discs in half and toss them in the garbage.. anyone have any suggestions on my problem?.. The tech help in their forum was no help.

How about Virus protection? Have you disabled/uninstalled/ect. your virus protection to see if that is causing the problem. this problem strikes a memory to me for some reason. Maybe a quick troll through the forums here to see if it has been addressed and how it was fixed.

Yeah.. I was hoping this subject was already covered here because the game is so old. I couldn't find anything..

I did shutdown Zone Alarm and turned off my AVG, along with Windowblinds and M$ anti spyware app. I also put my video card clocks back to stock and made sure my bios showed standard safe settings for my RAM. (I had manual times put in, but when I checked it had somehow reset to default(?)) I havn't tried the latest 6.3's yet.. I'm using Omega's 6.2's still. .. oh and I shut down ATI TOOL as well.

I seriously doubt a mobo bios flash will help even though they suggested I do so. I do know its a bit old.. like 4 versions old.. but this game came out after so I'm pretty sure it won't matter. I've been running ALL my other games fine.. FarCry,Painkiller,NFS, NFS:MW,Quake4, Doom3, Doom3 addon, Serious SamII, Fear, Suffering Ties that Bind, HL2 with mods,Vampire Masquerade, and Splinter Cell.. think I forget a couple but you see my point.. GothicII is a budget OLD title.. shouldn't be a issue IMHO.
