People are STILL buying AMD?
Gee, I would have thought with all the...
1) Core crushing
2) Heat problems
3) Limited frequency increases
4) Limited internal mechanics improvements
5) Lack of new processors being released
6) near 900 million dollar loses
7) General cheapness in quality
8) Loss of the top end performance war
9) Decreased price difference between similary powerd P4s
10) Delay of the x86-64 architecture
11) Limited CPUs occupying retail shelf space
12) Limited CPUs occupying Dells, Alienwares, and Voodoos
People would stray from the AMD path of crapiness and too-little-too-late. But gee, I still see a couple people eeking out mediocre performance on underpowerd highend processors from AMD....
(in case you're wondering, this is kind of a renewal of the old "People are STILL buying Intel" thread...)

Reno........you are just one bored kid aren't you? You just weren't satisfied with JavaFox's thread. Now you have to do this? Face it. People prefer what is cheap. Now why would you care what type of processor we run? Do you have to stick your hands up people's asses and control them? Just simply. Why do you care what processors we run?
edit: you forgot Via processors....they have been becoming more popular. And simply it is this. AMD doesn't advertise (tv). Intel does. SO..think this way. Are you going to by a brand that you have never heard of? Everyone (normal everday Joe) has heard or INTEL...but really, who has heard of AMD?

DE, The VIA's are basically newer Cyrix's. They bought them out or something a while ago.

Yeah, this thread will never be as awesome as the "There Are Still People Buying Intel?" thread, and you know it.

Wow....he kinda makes sense. But totally. What's the point in spending all that extra money? Granted if you buy a P4....almost any of them can do at least a 600mhz overclock. That aint shabby at all.... But still.... Why buy intel?

Yeah, and why buy anything, for that matter. Except for the essentials, you know, beer, smokes.
It's just a sport, like cars or music - you know, Ferrari vs BMW, rockers suck and so on.

Actually, this was more of a joke. But, to respond to Neon_Fagboy...
A 3.06Ghz P4 beats a 2800+ (the fastest AMD vs the fastest P4) hands down.
It's hard to overheat / crush a P4. I've tried. With a sledgehammer. And without a heatsink on, soooo long ago...I've crushed Durons with my BARE hands to impress the ladies. I've burned them up breathing on them.
Intel, Microsoft, Via, Smith Barney, and Wal-mart made a PROFIT post 9-11...why didn't crappy, 900 million dollar loses a year AMD? Cuz maybe their CEO has a paycheck 3 times bigger than Intels...and that's their whole marketing strategy? Spend more, look cooler, sell better?
There are no stores *I* know of that sell AMD processors in retail boxes (I'm not talking Mom's Mobo Shop, more like Best Buy, Wal-mart, Circuit City).
How many times has the Clawhammer/Craphammer been delayed? Where's the Opteron? Where's anything more than a die shrink and a 66mhz frequency increase? Oops, must have been Intel stealing their creative drive! Hyper-threading, increased cache, 200mhz frequency increases! Oh my!
I've seen retards who go into electronic stores and benchmark systems in ways to show that crappy systems are just as good as better systems. Usually the visual quality is worse, the disable features on the better machine, or run a million programs in the background, then anti-alias it and run it at way higher resolutions. Your statement, not only impossible, is really dumb. And the sales people usually laugh, hope they buy the crappy system, just to get their commission.
And it's not Intel's fault that AMD doesn't advertise. Maybe if AMD's 800 million a year "operating" costs weren't so exhorbitantly high, they'd have money for ads!

I agree, it's overplayed. And why would you care what type of processor I am running.

Well, according to your sig, you want other people to care what processor you're running
But in any case, this is a pointless argument without an end, although some mature responses may appear once in a while, it is hard to do so with an immature start.

Quite an overwhelming people .....33 to 4 FOR amd. But here's the deal Renegade. I put that in my sig so people know that it IS infact an AMD. Just for troubleshooting and whatnot. But Reno's approach is more of a bashing upon AMD. Get it? He think he is cool for having Intel. I don't care what processor you run. I don't care if you don't care about what processor I run.

Hmmmm.
Pentium 4 3.06GHz processor: $ 625 dollars.
AMD Athlon XP 2700+ 333 $ 324 dollars
That leaves you with another three hundred dollars for motherboard, and ram.
Either system would be bleeding fast. But you could build a dual processor system with AMD for the price of a single processor Intel.
Dual 2600+ processors with a Gig of Corsair XMS PC2700 sounds really good to me.
Here is a quick run down:
Code:
AMD Intel
Processor: 2x2600+ 1x3.06Ghz
Motherboard: Tyan Tiger MP Pro MSI 845PE Max
Ram: 1GB Corsair XMS PC2700 1GB Corsair XMS PC2700
Price: $966 $983
Basically you could build a DUAL processor AMD system with all of the goodies... for LESS than a single processor system winth Intel...
I have looked through some of these posts, and to tell you the truth.. I have seen valid statements from both sides. But here is the thing, Reno is a complete and utter fan boy! Reno, your points, and statements are moot, and your arguements are pointless, and poorly written. Just because it says Intel on it, doesnt mean that it is worth paying for.
Price vs. Performance wins every time.
Another thing is, there is no reason to pit a 3.06GHz Processor against the 2800+
Apples, and Oranges. That PR value is there for a reason. Use it nimrod.
The 2.8GHz P4 lost a lot of benchmarks to the 2800+ ! Showing that the PR value is valid. So, overclock the 2800+ to the clock speeds of what a 3000+ should be, and run the benchmarks again. I have a feeling that the results would be very similar.
Now then, I am finished ranting. The poll shows the truth of the matter.
BTW, I am new to this site, and it is quite interesting to see a "FLAMING AREA" ! Nice feature...

Oh, and to give ya' just one extra little smack in the face. The guys over at xtremesystems.org have been getting 1000+ Mhz overclocks out of AMD Processors. Here is an example.

Maybe they're planning to join some sort of AmWay scheme - you know, "this 1Kg toothpaste, you never heard of it, because we invest all the money into research, so it's the best you can get, and if you yell this wherever and get a couple of them sold, you'll have some percentage, too".

Again, the likes of people like "Darkness" (whoa, coooool name), can't see the forest for the trees.
And anyway, fanboy? Ha! Good one, at least I'm not the one that came up with AMD-Clans/ AMD-Tribes on this forum. ( to JavaFox)

you are indicative of an intel fanboy. purile, uneducated and quite frankly its embarassing you still frequent this forum. I thought you would have moved back to the nickelodeon forums long ago, I see you still play the role of the DH clown exceptionally well.
