OK I've about had it with the naming conventions being used on video cards recently. You ever try explaining to people over the phone which video card is better? Those of us who are tech savy understand what is better, but our friends and family in many cases do not!
Whatever happened to the good old fashioned Non-pro, Pro, and Ultra naming conventions? BRING THEM BACK PLEASE!
EDIT: Added SE and LE to the title

I agree. Bring back the pro, and the non-pro. And for nVidia, bring back the Ultra, and the non-Ultra.

Why not just have 3 products from each manufacturer and say "This is Power Supply Shit Edition, this is Power Supply OK edition, and this is Power Supply Best edition" or somesuch

Yeah their CPUs are getting just as bad. I love my P4 630 though I'm glad at least AMD seems to be sticking with the 3000+ schema. Wonder if Intel is afraid to go to that schema for fear of a potential lawsuit?

Yeah cause Intel used an arbitrary scheme....
I think their idea though is higher number = better performance but it gets confusing when they have the 530 and 531 for example.... which one has more cache and a slower bus or higher frequency and less cache etc... argh

its fucking retarded, intel DROPPING the pentium name. the logo looks terrible and this new naming scheme of 500,600,800,900 series. its fucking lame.
and yea 9700 pro, 9800 pro was solid. i dont at all mind XT. geforce sounded better with ultra and Ti in it. MX was gay though. XL, GS, GTO is all fucking gay

if it didnt cost anything then there would be no incentive for innovation.

The naming of video cards has gotten quite stupid, yes.
So is having 58 versions of the same freakin card. (which causes all those stupid naming conventions)
I also wish they would let the software fully max-out current cards before coming out with a whole new one all the time.....give it a full year between revisions. They're changing so fast that software companies never even get a firm grip on current tech before all new tech hits. It's starting to annoy me. This is why we end up with sorry shadows in games and other such idiotic issues.

not take a break for a year, but trying to perfect in everyway the video cards that they are currently designing. that gives the cards that are out the chance to mature and game developers the chance to write games that more closely use the vid-cards resources. but if u and everyone else on the net except for a few of us that do not have the moneyto upgrade to every whim then be my guest.
