Was Intel until 12 mths ago when i built this system based around
a 1.2 Gig Thunderbird which, although long overdue for an
ungrade, has been a good, reliable set-up.
Im sticking with AMD from now on

My current cpu is an AMD, that doesn’t mean I think AMD is a better processor than Intel, it just means that when I was building my current puter AMD gave me the best value for my hard earned $.

Thanks, ryoko. I must apologize for my poor english, though, I think you misunderstood me a little.
My original post was:

You know, like cops, do they become cops because they are stupid, or do they become stupid because they are cops?
Did you always have this compulsion to prove yourselves, or is it only since you use AMD?
Can someone make a poll out of this, what if the latter is true...
|
I didn't mean to state that AMD users are stupid.
I only noted that AMD users (as shown in the There are still people buying Intel? and btw Amd Users Vs Intel Users threads) seem to have the urge to defend/promote/impose their choice of preocessors over people who choose to buy from the competing chip builder.
I thought it was pretty clear, in spite of the cops hint
Some quotes:

We don't want you anyway.

Note how the author equates 'users' with 'fanboys', in his (or her) view everybody has to be emotionally involved in the choice of hardware.
From the same author, couple of posts below:
Quote:

I love the fact that I get to USE Via chipsets. Via writes excellent drivers, and I've never had a problem with stability.
|
Note again emotion, plus the idea that excellency derives from his personal experience - what if somebody has a different experience with said hw/drivers? I should probably avoid confessing that my experience with VIA chipsets (as 693) points to terrible memory management, while stability is no better than i815's - I would be hated for it.
And again:

Of course, all of the intelligence came from the AMD Camp.
|
A Camp (note the capital c) already? WE the AMD users (or fanboys, for that matter)...
While documenting the above I found a post I had previously overlooked:

That reminds me of AMD users.
|
Not exactly my point, but close enough. I'm not even the only one to have noted.
So, I'm afraid I must leave - however reluctantly - all credit for this poll to you.
Congratulations!

a little?
i reread your post and melted like a snowcone on the equator in march... i can't believe i took the cop thing literally and imposed the amd/intel stuff on that... wow.
after that, i had to vote "i was already stupid"
well anyway, i can see your point. i see it all the time in nvidia/ati conversations, where the ati defenders are much more vocal than nvidia defenders. i think it's the underdog syndrome...
but then again, i have amd/nvidia, and i don't defend amd. i defend nvidia rarely, but then again, i am on rage3d alot, where if you mention nvidia you are burned at the stake.
i don't think that owning a specific product will make you defensive. i think it's just who you are. that's why there are fanboys on both sides, and yet FAR more who don't really care to get into an argument (like me)

Gosh, Ryoko!
I actually took it as a joke, or whatever, some board stuff.
I'm new to boards, and from Eastern Europe, so I kinda take anything 'as it comes' - the flame forum is for flaming, whatever that means, so I thought it's sort of 'rules of the game'...
And responded the best I could.
Actually flaming is most unusual to me, we do a lot of spoofing around over here, but this is different, more like a literary genre, if you like, and based on insults - sort of the opposite of 'it's ok to kill people as long as you don't speak dirty' - and with style.
Alas... you misunderstood me again... I was trying to be ironic...
I suck...
(and I'm afraid intel has nothing to do with it)

For some reason, the idea of a 2.533Ghz P4 and PC2700 memory is more appealing than a 2600+ Athlon with PC2700 memory...I dunno...for some reason it's just my mind! I'm crazy!

Yeah, but I've heard that with the PC2700 XMS modules from corsair, and with aircooling on a BE7 from Abit...2.533gigers have been getting up to 166Mhz FSB...that's like what...3.2 GIGAFREAKINHERTZ?
And all that power for less than 550 bucks? WHOA!

Hmm...and I suppose NASA, the DoD and MENSA are stupid? (all use intel based computers, NASA uses a lot of RISC machines too, and crays...which are pentium 2 farms...)
