Ok, let's start a good fight: 3dm2k1se: What's a "good" score?
I hear it asked an awful hell of a lot, "What's a good 3dm2k1se score?", and I think the answer can only be found in the Flamezone. (I have a feeling it could be a sensitive subject to some, 3dm2k1se scores being related to penis size and all. )
So hears my take on 3dm2k1se scores to get the ball rolling:
A gaming rig should score at least 3K on 3dm2k1se to be "decent", at least 6K to be "good", and at least 8K to make it a "great" gaming rig. Over 10K is "leet" as far as I'm concerned.
Yeah, big shocker that the 3 numbers I chose were approximately the 3 marks I've gotten withing all my upgrades over the last year...but that's the only thing I can base it on. (I also think that 8500 scores should be reduced by about 20% to reflect their real-life gaming performance, but that's probably a whole 'nother thread. )

Matrox Parhelia scores should be increased 150% to reflect their real world performance.
A high 3D Mark score is they only thing it doesn't do well.
But then, I didn't buy it to "play" 3D Mark

Hey Dom, What kind of score do you get? You seem to have a decent rig.

Don't know, never used any benchmark programs, If my system works like it's supposed to, then I don't care about any numbers.
But, I'm gonna d/l 3DM2K1SE now to see.

I used to run 3dmark every time I changed something in my rig. Imagine my disappointment when I bought my latest vid card and got a "great" score, but my penis hadn't grown any bigger than before!! Not that my gf ever complained, but it was still hard to see my whole world crumble. I'm glad I never built that shrine to MadOnion after all.
PS: For those with complaining girlfriends/wifes, just take a hotmail account and you'll be showered with junk mail pushing various pills/lotions/potions that should help you achieve your goal .

118FSB is default?!? What an odd pc you have....
What do you have your GF3 clocked at? I'd be willing to bet it's your bottleneck right now. My current gaming rig (Bubbles) is a 1.4celery@1.6666, TUSL2-C, 512MB, GF3 240/530 (Everyday settings, not going for the big numbers. ) and scores just about the same
It seems weird that you have at least half a gigahertz on me but we score about the same, 3dm2k1se is such bullsh*t. (But it's still my favorite game! )

True Digi he should be getting at least 1000 or more than you.
All that cooling that he using ...for what ???
im getting a 6100 mark with my rig and as you can see i cant really OC it
cause of the mobo and noname ram.
But he does have a Ti200 (a bit slower than 500)

Re:
Please don't hold back, tell me how you really feel about it.
That's one of the reasons I started this thread, I think that your 8-10-15K rating is about spot-on with what a lot of people think...but I say that's bullsh*t! According to that thinking my current gaming rig that "only" scores 6954 on 3dm2k1se wouldn't even make it to "decent"....but it can run any game out there at 1024x768 and not drop below 40fps during slowdowns?!? I can enable 4x aniso & still keep the FPS over 70 on most first-person shooters, yet my rig is only "decent"?!?
I think not. That's why I wanted to see what other peeps think. I used to be quite happy gaming when my rig was kicking 3K, at 6-7K it's obscenely nice to me. I think 10K+ is only for bragging rights as there just ain't anything on the market that really needs that much horsepower to be playable.

Yeah, I'm getting about the same with Blue & my 8500 currently with a PIII800@944. But since my FSB is oc-ed I'm just a tad higher. (3dm2k1se LOVES faster FSB.) And I don't have a ti500, it's just a vanilla GF3. (Well, not quite "vanilla". Her name is "littleZ" and she's a used card that was modded by a master and runs 240/530 24/7....I like it when my friends upgrade. )

I judge by Anti-Aliasing speed...in quincunx with 4tap anio
5200 (around what I get) is decent, 8000 (if I had a GF4) is good, and 10,000 (if I had a 9700) is excellent.
Anything less than 7500 sucks at default settings.
And a parhelia is slower than a gf4 in jedi knight 2, quake 3, and serious sam 2...at least according to crappy magazines such as maximum pc and computer gaming world...and pc gamer.
As soon as the 9700 from ATI comes out there will be no place for the parhelia in the 400 dolla bracket, it can do everything the parhelia does (except surround gaming, which sucks) faster and cheaper. 340 bucks for a brand new 9700 pro which can score 12,000 3dmarks on MY rig and 10,000 with 4xAA and 8xAnio...or 370 for a parhelia...which performs WORSE than my ti500 in Jedi Knight with 2x antialiasing?
I just can't wait for the .13 NV30...sweet bejeebus...if it's only marginally better hopefully it'll drive the 9700 down in price and I'll buy that beast.

Do you want me to sic hellbinder on you. That statement is biased to your assbackwards hillbilly way of life. A real gamer would not settle for anything less than the fastest available, whatever that was.
