Motherf***ing network adapter!

Apparently, there was a brief power outage and the big pu**y decided to throw a fit because of that. I powered on the PC - "Found new hardware - Ethernet Adapter". Ok, no biggie, it'll find the drivers, I thought. Nope? Ok then, here's the mobo disc... No luck again? Ok, I'll force him to use the driver... No network connectivity? Ok, I'll set TCP/IP properties manually... Address already used by other adapter?! Fine, I'll pick another one. Now it says all is well, except I can't bloody reach anything over network. Also, under "Network Adapters" in Device Manager, it says Realtek RTL8169/8110 Family Gigabit Ethernet NIC #2, but the original, apparently still occupying it's address, is nowhere to be found. Device reinstalls, Safe Mode, replugging the cable, disabling and re-enabling the NIC in BIOS didn't help and the damn thing (mis)behaved identically when I booted to Win 7 beta. Finally, I shut down the PC, turned off the PSU switch, once again disconnected and reconnected the cable, turned everything back on and it worked. No "Found New Hardware", nothing, as if nothing had happened, it just wanted a bit of attention.

Fucking idiots , everywhere you go you meet up with at least one idiot. yesterday I paid for a my electricity bill and I specifically told the guy :this is for house #xxxxx i told him that 2-3 times and he says yeah. I check the receipt today and it says its a bill for my other apartment 100km from where i stay.

Why the fuck would I pay a bill for a house i dont stay in ,God! Now they might even cut power coz i'm late for payment. Goddam fucker if I had a gun i swear id smack him over the head with it.

No where near as bad as some of you guys..but i'm still in school.

My mum has specific rules: No games during term time, no msn, no myspace, no facebook.

I now have a 3 week long holiday (YAY gaming/freedom wooohoo etc.)

but no, new rule: 3 hours of computer a day only, ABSOLUTELY NO GAMES AT ALL.

FML. holidays and no games..comeon

Had an argument with my asshole brother, why is it one brother always has to be an ass hole!
This is what he does, he takes half my clothes as if he doesnt have anything to wear and leaves them @ his friends house.

Meanwhile now that he took my good clothes i'm left with the shitty old ones, AND FOR TWO MONTHS I ask him to go get them back as i need to go about my daily bussiness lookin good n proper but he just smiles and says he'll get to it.

Yes, yes, I've heard it all before....KB&M is better than a game controller you say. Yeah, sure, for all the genre's of games I don't like anyway.

I understand I'm in the minority when it comes to my gaming tastes, but I just don't understand people's fascination with FPS games. GAWD I hate FPS's......they all seem the same to me; stare down the barrel of a gun and blast anything that moves or shoots back at you. Strategy games; BORING!, Sims; ditto the BORING.

Online gaming.....at least I can kind of understand why people go for that. I'm just not such a person.

If it wasn't for the buttloads of old games (made back in the day when games were FUN) that I have, I'd have nothing to play at all. But you know, I get tired of OLD games......

No one need comment on this particular reply. I'm just venting.

One of my friends and I actually had an hour-long discussion the other day about HOW BAD GAMES SUCK NOW. I used to run an "Old-School Gaming" thread here at DH about a year ago, so I'm all about the playability of a game, not it's graphical representation. Honestly, all these games that are so visually slick seem to have hardly any substance to them - I beat the XBOX360 game Crackdown with all the upgrades in three and a half hours. Ewww.

Take, for instance, HALO 3. I can't play more than a few deathmatches on LIVE before I just want to go back to HALO 2...the controls, physics and gameplay are about 10,000 times better than in 3. And HALO 2 is NOT classic gaming.

In the grand scope of things, it seems like most things these days that are considered an art form (music, movies and video games ((yes, I said VIDEO GAMES))) have become so generic and bland that I can't identify with it, play it or watch it. I think about 85% of the American population enjoys this trend of mediocrity, but that's because they had no taste to begin with.

WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING TO THE WORLD? It used to be a much more diverse existence, even ten years ago...

I've played quite a few of those games you listed, and Mass Effect is one of the only ones I enjoyed. Yeah, BlueMak, there are some exceptions to the rule (RESIDENT EVIL 5!), but for the most part, a lot of these so-called "next-gen" games that have come out seem like last-gen games with graphics updates. Take, for instance, Prototype, a cross-console game. It plays like Spider-Man 2 on PS2, moves like Spider-Man 2, even looks like Spider-Man 2 with a different character model and different enemies.

I have played a shit-ton of good games in my day, and lately, nothing seems good.

Who told you to play Prototype? :-p If you watch a few gameplay videos you will see the game is boring as...something.

There were always games that were boring/more of the same in a bad way/etc, you always needed to choose carefully, don't forget there are hundreds of games released each year, they can't all or even most be good.
