Getting reallly tired of advertising...

...In advertisements!!!

Wtf man I mean really. The one that pisses me off the most has to be the Kate Nash ones on MTV. Seriously, f*ck that chick. She is a horrible singer and a crappy performer and if that isn't enough she is shoved in my face taking up half the commercial I am watching. Seriously, look at her face when she is singing! It looks like her parents are on the set and ready to beat her as soon as she f*cks up.

Also those HP ads on the computers in the background. Come on man, I'm not going to ever buy your computers or download your bloatware that takes over my computer and every time I see those commercials its just more negative reinforcement.

One thing I'm glad not to see, Apple commercials. Thank the lord I don't have to listen to ignorant, dumbed down brainwashing for the masses in at least one of the thousands of commercials I see every day (not by choice).

What about you guys?

People still watch MTV? I lost all interest for it back in the early mid 90's. I wanted music in my music TV.

I have never seen the commercials you are talking about so I can't comment on that, but in program advertisement I too find very annoying. Worst of all for me is the "call this number" ones that scroll or stay on part of the screen.

I am not against ads. I am in favour of capitalism, but the way some of them work, they are counter productive, plus annoying to the viewer.
Half of me is annoyed that I have some irrelevant on my screen, the other half that they are hurting the product/company they are trying to promote. It's like they are there to promote themselves instead of their customers. Kind of like starforce I guess.

I don't watch TV ads. It annoys me when I visit people and they switch to a channel that is running an ad and keep watching the ad like it's something to see. Whenever people bring up ads in a group conversation I'm glad to be uninformed. A good sign is that people seem to be talking less about ads today than for say ten years ago. There's hope for humanity.

My local bar doesn't even play MTV any more. Everything is on MP3 and you can take your music down their and create your own playlists. Still have the MTV visuals going so you can drool over Beyonce and co or watch 'pimp my ride' while you've got the music going.

Ok ok, this isn't just about MTV and I only started watching it a few days ago because of that show. Normally its only Discovery, Cartoon Network/Adult Swim for me. And maybe the food channel, TLC, History, Style, and Court.

I love the PC vs Apple ads

If there's one channel with no redeeming advertising it would be SpikeTV. Every freakin ad features some woman showing off her tits selling some shitty drink or cell phones. I don't mind some T&A if the ad is smart but SpikeTV's ads are aimed squarely at the teenage crowd and I've had to suffer through 3 hours of them for a couple of the UFC events Live on SpikeTV.

None of that compares to the Grand Daddy of all shit commercials: Axe Deodorant. Never have I seen such a god awful product (which stinks like a homeless mans asshole) marketed so successfully that every young male thinks layering themselves with this trench urine will get him the chicks. The ads are sexist and stupid but they always find a way to make the next ad even worse. If I recall the latest Axe marketing, they've convinced the idiots who buy it to buy 2 bottles next time because they'll create some sort of magic chick magnet effect when 1 & 2 are mixed together. The only noticeable effect I've seen is everyone stayed clear of the funk emanating from the guys who try this.

LOL at Axe...I think my g/f is the only woman in the world who likes the smell of that shit...too bad I don't wear it.

Anyways, the "new" thing is showing ads before movies now, if you can call it new. When my girl and I went to see Sweeny Todd on Christmas Day, we got there about 10 minutes early. I expected to see the usual "Coca-Cola Trivia" (which is just as banal, but at least works your mind into really wanting to see the movie), but instead, we got a 3 Doors Down video advertisement for the U.S. Army(entitled Citizen Soldier - How the fuck do they get record deals?) and a 5 minute ad spot that had ads within ads. This is a very confusing parallel to me; the fact that marketing campaigns are launched with the sole intention of advertising a vaguely related product or service within an advertisement for another product or service...why don't we just start making 30 minute syndicated slots of old commercials, call up Nick at Nite, get the train rolling and then they could show NEW ads within the old ads! It's genius!

In fact, since the drop in the economy a few months ago, you'd think they'd be hocking expensive cologne and Ralph Lauren underwear a lot less; as to not refresh the masses' memory about how awful the whole "money thing" is right now.

*sigh*

When a show goes to commercial, that's one thing. What really annoys me is when the show comes back on and they run ads along the bottom of the screen, sometimes blocking out show credits or stuff like text info in the show. If that isn't annoying enough, they sometimes even have sound for the ad they are placing over the show. Who's brainfart was that?

And many (if not all) stations can't even let the credits at the end of a show finish before they scrunch it into a tiny little box where you couldn't read the credits if you wanted to (and run them at hyper-speed no less) and shove more ads in your face.

It's as if the freakin' ads are more important than the shows they sponsor.

It makes me wonder, if commercials are so important and pay for everything, why we have to pay anything for cable in the first place.

i can't stand the lies told in ads

"aim the gun an shoot the bullseye to claim a prize"

"you have new mail click here to read it"

etc etc

wtf is the purpose of these ads?? who makes them? utter assholes, the type of assholes that write spam emails i imagine. i HATE people who do that. i know we all have to earn a livin, but by spamming people with rubbish?

if i went around my neighbor posting spam letters through everyones box everyday, i'd get beaten up, just as these dickheads in the advertising (not meaningful well made advertising, just pointless rubbish) and spam industry should be

I'll start with the spam first:
WHY WOULD I WANT AMERICAN GREEN CARDS?
ok America is a nice country, I got friends there, places to see things to do, and their economy is better than ours....but if I want to emigrate I'll probably look up the available green card services MYSELF! And I do believe that these advertisements aren't even the real deal cause if I was an American I'd know that about 8 % of the population is unemployed, and that I don't need waiters with italian accents.
WHO WOULD BE STUPID ENOUGH TO GIVE AWAY FREE GIFT CARDS?
unless I belong to a rich foundation I probably wouldn't give away money just like that. And If it's a gift why do they need my bank account? Are they checking to see if I'm really poor or do they think I'll donate back more than they gave me(as in emptying my account entirely)?
I DON'T WANT LAPTOPS!
So I don't care about their fake claims of giving them away free either!
desktop PC's outperform them by far
