??? Opera problem with DH "enchanced interface"

I have been spending sometime this evening with Opera, learning the new features and vast customizations.

One thing I have noticed that bothers me is the "enchanced interface" within my User CP on DH. When I use the "enchanced interface" WYSIWYG Editing, the feature doesn't allow me to edit text with color or add bullets, the broswer is acting as if it were set to "basic editor".

Has anyone else seen this happen?

the enhanced interface was really designed for IE, unfortunately. we are looking into an opera supported client for it. but you can use tags for bold, url etc. I normally do anyway

Sorry not the answer you probably wanted to hear.

all these are to be included in brackets not quotation marks of course, just a few

"b" - bold
"i" - italic
"u" - underline
"url" - url can also be used like url= for embedded links
"img" - image
"list" - bulletpoints
"code" - code

for example "b"hello!"/b" (replacing quotes with [-]" would be hello!.....

I am still going to stick with Opera although I take advantage of the "enchanced interface" alot. That's a real shame the software doesn't work with the Dh interface like IE, I guess I'll stick it out and wait for it to be looked at. Is it easy to sort out Zardon?

Well the WYSIWYG is a direct hook into IE so it can't be plugged into Opera, It doesnt really work correctly in firefox either (although it does work to a certain degree).

I generally use opera for Driverheaven however if im making a complex post with a lot of commands or a direct cut and paste of HTML into the editor I would temporarily fire up IE to ensure it is perfect.

We have been looking at several opera compatible versions, however getting them implemented might be tricky as we would need to start hacking in browser checks etc. As you would expect adding forum wide hacks or addons can frequently mess up something else !

To make the WYSIWYG editor work properly under Opera, you need to do the following:
1) Identify your browser as Opera, not IE
2) Make sure you have Opera 8.01 or later - previous versions won't work (check the vbulletin forum)
3) Go to your user control panel here and go to Edit Options, scroll all the way down and go to the "Message Editor Interface" box. Make sure that the full WYSIWYG editor is selected there

WYSIWYG works for me under Opera, however I don't see the final rendered HTML on the fly, I see the text with the vb tags in it. For example, if I want to make something bold, I'll see it as [ b]bold[ /b] (without the spaces)

But this doesn't do what i am wanting, thanks for the reply though, but the bullets and text color dont work, it just has the syntax next to the text.

Go to the wand password settings in tools > preferences > wand (tab) > passwords and you can adjust how the password is stored for different sites...you may have it set to never remember the login...just delete dh from the list, revisit the site, and when it asks you how to remember the login info, say always for this server/page...it should stick unless you delete it.

I have switched back to IE for viewing DH, and deselected Opera as my default browser because I am having trouble with other sites...
but MY GOD Opera loads very very fast....

these are sites that I must access to perform my work...specifically .mil sites and the VPN I use, but I dont blame Opera for that, they were just designed for IE of course, as I get messages to switch to IE if I want to continue to use it....its okay.

My rule of thumb is use opera for browsing the web. When you need to use some sort of web-based application use IE. When you become an advanced opera user you can add "Open in IE" links to your right click and link menus to make the process easier.

with above pic and the above posts.... i use IE as the default browser. browse/view local files with it or sometimes open local file with other browser using 'Open With' and open the internet shortcuts using 'Send To'.

i start browsing the web with Opera now and use it on a regular basis. it used to be Mozilla, then Firefox and the Opera before that in the past many years.
if i start browse the web with IE by openning an internet shortcut from the Favorites folder and find some page that i like to bookmark i would switch to other browser and bookmark the webpage. there won't be any IE for that page any more if the page was work okay with other browsers.

and if i have any problem with any webpage while viewing it with Opera or Firefox and i still want to use the service on the page i'll reopen it with IE. and IE will have this page bookmarked. may be this a little off topic here, sorry about that just wanted to share an idea.

I use opera on my laptop occasionally, especially when I am trapped in Dialup hell at a hotel in Louisiana recently, using IE it takes several minutes sometimes for the entire first page of DH to load..LOL.

if you connect on a 56K line at the hotel and you can have around 3x - 4x kbps net connecttion the Opera should work just fine, page loading time should be faster than the IE.
