Well lets just hope the more dedicated members of the community realise the ads arent there because I have a fetish for them, but they actually fund competitions, the costs of site, reviews, new develpments such as www.driverheavendownloads.net and all the other goodies available here for free - terrabytes of data a month isnt free. Blocking everything (and therefore clicking nothing) means you are giving nothing back to the future of this site.

I promise to click the google ad before I finish today, as at the moment, it's the only one I'm prepared to co-operate with
Having seen ATI's wretched fish swimming by ad-nauseum, they are now swimming with the fishes... I DO have an X700, it was part of the system - and no, I wouldn't choose it myself, in fact, I'm that ****ed off with the ad that I'm even less likely to.
The ad companies and advertisers may learn, eventually, that while a visual assault grabs the attention, it wears thin VERY quickly and may even backfire on them.
The best ads work by stealth - you don't have to notice or ignore them, you just see them, and notice them when they say something you want to know.

Normally the more dedicated members usually donate. Hmm would there be any to have a sorta VIP members group who donate so much per year? Those members then wouldn't have the hassle of ad's.

The site I'm an Admin at we have that. Basically the VIP's get their own section of the forum, and also get e-mails from the site as well. Of course this I'm referring isn't like DH, but it's not a bad idea. The hard part would be figuring out how much. Hmm the HL2 packages come to mind.

I'm thinking it's getting way too much sorry it's just how I feel I think two is fine enough for me. Is there going be way fix that ad? it's covering up my driverheaven logo [/QUOTE]
How can you possibly have any say in this matter if all you do is complain about the ads? Do you click on any of them? Do you support DH in any way shape or form? I support the site by donation (small) and by clicking a few adds everytime I come here. What's the big deal in that? Let me tell you something, *nothing* is for free anymore. If you don't support it, you will eventually loose it!

Another forum I go to makes very good use of affiliate commissions - they do not have any banners, no flash - what they do have is a "shopping list" of affiliate offers for things you actually want, with lump sum commision or percentages, even on stuff that is free to join up, as opposed to the pittance that a click on the average junk banner is worth...
It's one of the "cashback" forums, and while some companies (like Amazon) are now ruling out cashback incentives, they still offer affiliate schemes.
It depends, of course - if it works out the same or cheaper, I'm more than happy to use an affiliate supplier, but they do have some affiliates that are just so insanely overpriced.
