annoying sound on dh

the add or whatever that sounds like a picture is being taken every second makes me want to jump out a window of a 100 floor building.or rideing my busa into a semi truck head-on at 200+ mph.i love dh but this has gotta go.

1: its probably an ad

2: ads arent hosted here

3: it wont be affecting everyone as ads are IP targetted.

3: show me a picture of the ad.

4: ill report it.

5: ad will be removed.

6: you will be happy.

7: ill be happy.

8: your busa will be happy.

this is what is so wierd,i cant find a picture of the ad that might be doing it.all it is is a sound of a camera takeing a picture.it dont happen all the time but about 50 to 75 percent of the time.i have cleared all temp folders in the past and cookies and came directly here and it happened again.i just did that after i read your reply and it didnt appear.next time it happens i will post and let you know my findings.i will try to get a screenshot of all visable ads.thx for such fast reply zardon.later

I understand your annoyances, but I cant do anything about it until I see the ad that is causing it. if you can check next time you hear it whether you are on the front page or in the forum.

then.

check the ad under the ATI banner, and if you are front page the ad under the corsair banner, tell me what they are either in here or in PM, then I can take it from there and report the ad to the ad companies who we deal with. There is also a possibility it may only be running for a short time.

Incidentally the reason you arent hearing it all the time is due to the fact the offending ad (whatever it is), will be running on a script rotation targetting your IP range.

well im guessing by your description it is the verizon camera ad or the paperazzi ad. ill try and check into it ASAP but it wont be until Monday when they reopen.

While wher talking about annoying ads making noise the fly buzzing one, free ipod one is getting on my nerves. Thank god its only on the front page!

thats the fist thing that loads BUZZ.... then the dh page.. and then it contenues to buzz!

This just happened- that really loud picture snapping one was going NUTZ. then I reloaded and the buzzing one came up..

Just to give you some proof......
Just so you know - if you haven't heard these things they are about the most annoying ads I have ever heard.. Not complaining, but just to inform. It would absolutely drive people away.

OMG it is getting worse. This one makes a drilling sound! Wow- if I could get my hands around the guy at the ad company who keeps putting them there.. j/k- not really..

I have heard those ads over the past few days and they are the most annoying things ever!!!

the clicking, buzzing, drilling etc appear non stop on the front page...they need to go as soon as possible!!!

Wouldn't it be great if people could make ad's that would support a site without make it really annoying? Or ad's that weren't blatant displays of sexuality? Those true ad's are pretty provocative, especially for some of the younger viewers. Anyway, grumble grumble, it's all good in the end, site admins have to pay for this stuff somehow.

The way most ad companies behave, they are now thought of as only one step better than the spammers that litter our email in-trays.

We have to seriously consider the end of the "ad-sponsored internet", as the inevitable end result of the escalation of the war against ever-pushier, crap-peddling ad providers.

Unless you object to google's privacy policies and cookie addiction, there is never anything to complain about in google's ad's, no dumping stright into a spyware install, no hyperactive irritants - maybe other ad companies will learn - or DIE.

you know if you guys hate the ads so much

then

1: donate
2: block them

im getting really tired of reading about every little ad that someone doesnt like.

The facts of life are, I have to keep this site going, and right now ive had 2 donations in 5 months, yes TWO donations in five months for $20 total, that would host this site for maybe a day, and everyone blocks the ads anyway, so its basically a free ride for quite a few people. Those ads you all hate keep the site running.

One day you will type in www.driverheaven.net and nothing will come up except a 404 error, i frequently wonder if this whole deal is worth my time.
