Incomplete News Posts : WHY ?

What do you mean by incomplete? They seem to link to other sites for completion so you dont have to read the whole thing if it turns out not to be interesting.

I think he means because the news posters only put a small snippet of the article in the thread.

if your referring to summarised or short new posts on the frontpage, it's simply because 12 1-2 page articles and the site's own news would make an already long page excessively long. The links to the original article are always included and if not it would simply be a mistake by the news poster.

Okay, I understand really long articles. But who's gonna tell me there's a point to posting exactly half or a third of a short one-page article. It's just kind of annoying to start reading an article and getting into it when it suddenly cuts off and you have to click the link. Maybe I'm just noticing this so much because the computer I'm currently using is so slow (233MHz) - NOT FSB, THE ACTUAL CPU SPEED ! and it sucks at multi-tasking.

P.S. No I'm not high, just bored. This computer sucks so bad.

i ran 90mhz with 80mb of ram and 1.6gb hardrive... multasking that sucker wasn't a problem.. (windows XP Pro on the other hand helped ALOT)

XP Pro? Not on this sucker. This is only capable of running windows me smoothly. Unless I disabled every possible effect including themes, but then again what's the point. I don't care much for this computer, just a temp. while I wait for my prommie.
What kind of multi tasking are u talking about. This really isn't so bad unless I have more than like 8 browser windows open (usually when reading different threads on DH). The only things that suck are threads with a lot of images. e.g. the show off ur rig thread takes like a minute to load. Not because of my internet (cable modem) but it just freezes every few seconds because it cant handle it.
It may also be the Diamond Stealth 3D 4000 4MB AGP video card I have installed. Trust me it sounds much better than it is. For "surfing the web" its just fine but as for other things it sucks. Can't play full-screen video. Hardly plays it windowed.

It would be nice at least if this stupid video card didnt show black boxes around every explosion and bullet. WTF?! Only with this video card this happens and it always did as far as I can remember. Maybe there's a fix for it [?]

I sure did find a fix so that I can play games with the built in 8mb video card thats on the SiS530, had some fun with that and then the errors started appearing and finally either the 475MHz processor or the board died. I really dont feel like taking the processor out of this one and using it on the sis530 to see whether the board of the cpu is messed up. I already know its not any of the pci cards or hdds as i took the cards out and tried different hdds. The messed up thing is that when u go into the bios, and choose one of the options, it shows these (---) lines and a whole bunch of other weird characters which makes me think that the bios chip might be damaged. Of course, the cpu or some other part of the board could be causing it.

Anyway, the SiS530 with the latest drivers will not play any 3D game. In dxdiag all acceleration options under display were not available. Then I found a website that tells u which drivers to install to make it work. And it did! Till all this shit happened.

Now I'm stuck with this:
233MHz AMD K6
128MB SDRAM
Soyo SY-5EMA MB
Diamond Stealth 3D 4000 4MB AGP video card
8GB HDD
SB16 sound card

If only someone had a fix for this stupid video card. For some reason AGP acceleration under display of dxdiag is disabled and idk how to enable it. Maybe im just too lazy....

EDIT:
This is what it says in display tab of dxdiag:
Hardware accelerated Direct3D 8+ is not available because the display driver does not support it. You may be able to get a newer driver from the hardware manufacturer.

I can't find any other driver but maybe if I installed DX7 it would work [?]

here's what i ran on for about 4 weeks before getting something done about my northbridge fan (WHICH I STILL HAVEN'T GOTTEN THE CRYSTAL ORB).... i just reoiled the hell outa the old one... working fine....

anyways.... here's the specs:

486DX 90mhz
80mb ram
1.6gb EIDE PIO mode 4 HD
256kb onboard S3 video
4x CD-rom

the older ESS onboard sound you could find....200 series?

Opti chipset....

built somewere around 92-93.... as the parts are labeled as that.....

for it's time.. i'd say this sucker was WAY up there....

as for downloading.. 500kb/s no problem (what i usually get on most servers as a low)

It can pump out images like crazy...... a few browsers... with Windows XP Pro installed... it boots probably 10 seconds slow then ME...but runs about a millions times more solid and smoothly then ME.... not to mention all the benifits of XP PRO...
