Right now there are only two themes, cosmosheaven and sereneheaven. The other themes in there will be removed and aren't really active so this is probably causing your issue (surprised you can even see them tbh, that should be locked out, sure you can see them?). For the time being just use the two themes I mentioned. Blue fadeout on cosmosheaven is in the "stress craig out" list.

probably already mentioned but there's only two skin choices in the selector and both give me 'page not found' white screens.
|
The skin selector doesn't work on the front page right now, it should work in the forum. Its high on the "to fix" list. As you said you can only see two skins im guessing that partially answers the question above.

couldn't the 'join the community' image link to a register/login page rather than the forums, there's already a link to forums just up to the right.
|
Good point, ill check with Craig if that was/can be altered.

If a member is already logged in maybe it could show their avatar instead. 'join the community' seems supercilious to regular members.
|
Another good idea, but im not sure there is enough space in there, and im not sure of the coding logistics of that right now. maybe something to bear in mind for later, although as I said the spacing might be tight for an avatar etc. perhaps we can work in some dynamic scaling for an avatar and "you are logged in *username*". I do agree 100% with you. I have a changelist page im working on myself and ive added that into the list for a meeting next week.

still hoping for a direct link to the news forum somewhere it's far and away the most popular forum, what alot of people come here for.
|
A direct link to the news forum from the front page? If you click a technology news story in the panel on the right it takes you right into the news forum into that thread. Im not sure we need links to the news forum directly on the front page, because the driver support forums get a lot of hits (actually as many as the news), then we start putting up a lot of messy links to forum subsections. Like the thinking though, ill see if we can come up with something for that, something that doesnt make anything look messier or more cluttered and works right.

The biggest issue I have is with the main page. I'm using an HDTV (720p) as my monitor, and from 10 feet away I need to zoom pages to read them easily. The main page can't even zoom one step in Firefox without all of the formatting going to hell.
I realize that's pretty normal, but with FF3.0b3 it was kinda nice to have everything zoom, and not just text, but even that did not help.

Ok, a minor tweak which would make it perfect, is to have the gold of the "forum with new posts" repeated in the thread with new post icon - you have to look at least twice to pick out the difference between the current post/new post icons - that, and the choice of a "light" theme are where I always go (I think Sky was my old theme, having spun through all the others and come back to the one with the crispest icons).

i just noticed that when you go to the Member's List that if you try and organize the list by either reputation or by post count, that it will not organize the list.

A really small nit pick: There's a language choice at the bottom, which seems to affect the bar it's in and the date. Which is fine for now (I assume that you intend to extend it to more of the interface). Only thing which bothers me is that the English choice is "English (US)". Why not "English (UK)"? Though English is not my native language, I have a fondness for British English, and given that DriverHeaven is a UK-based site, it'd have been nice to not have the only English option be US English.

Horrid!
Your new front page is horrid! You have to look all over the place to find the news. When you do, the type is so tiny, you can hardly read it.
I have depended on driverheaven as a news source for several years. Now, you are making it hard to read! Dumb move.

Your right. That is nit picking.
If memory serves those language options depend on what language packs are installed into vBulletin. In this case they have decided not to install the language pack (mind you, there's only an unofficial one anyways). Reason being is the fact that the more language packs you add the larger the vbulletin database gets. To be honest, really, how much of a difference is there between English US and English UK in words like thread, reply, new posts, link, direct, smilies, members list, search, log out, or welcome? The thing to remember is that the language pack is only for vbulletin driven menus and such, and not user created or site operator content, such as in news posts, threads, or the flashy menus.

The news is directly on the right of the screen. It's actually easier now to view gaming and tech news on the same page. There is also a news tab at the top of the page which will take you to a summary page of the most recent news, the font on the page is quite large. You can also view the news in the forums as per usual.

viking, wether it actually is or isnt, the print does appear to be smalle. i find myself squinting sometimes. bty, the font size for replies is excellent now ty! is it the same size as front page fonts?
another complaint on my part - before when you were on front page & looking at reviews, articles, etc you could go directly to the 'post replies'. i really miss this. in review cases you have to hit 2 or more pages to get to them. as receiving thread updates is problematic at best, keeping track of threads you are interested in is becoming a pain. at least for me.

Sorry of someone already mentioned this, but the "mark forums read" link seems to be broken or something, saying it's an invalid link. Just letting you know.

Missed this post.
Im sorry to hear that, hopefully we can fix it until you give it at least an 8 - we don't want long term members like you discouraged to come here.
Don't give up on us.
