Bug with logging in and view new posts

at first i thought it was just normal for vbulletin.. some kind of oddity...

but after visting other forums and sites with the same or similare setup, i've come to the conclusion that something isn't quite right.

it's not a BIG deal, but it makes things much more complicated...

If you log in, remain logged in and leave for any lengthy period of time.... and then either delete the cookies OR moving to another computer, and log in, the forums will registered that you have new unread or new threads/posts. However if you either view the forums or click on NEW POSTS to do a search for them, driverheaven reports that there is none, and in some cases may provide another option for the latest posts within the last 24 hours (the later being rarely)

Obviously this isn't right, and i know it isn't because i've yet to experience the same results on any other forums...

Just a heads up....

So your saying you want to see the old posts you've seen show up as new posts?

If DH is telling you there are no new posts, the only way it gets that information is from your cookies. Now DH cookies are baked using grandma's secret recipe, and it's not always easy to get rid of the crumbs, so make sure they've all gone, from all subdomains, DH will use driverheaven.net and www.driverheaven.net for cookies, and then you'll see the posts you've read as new posts, if that makes you happy

no no.

i'm saying that when i view the boards on a machine for example right now... on one machine... say from my home.... go through all the new posts... and then leave

go to work

load up a machine that has never been to dh about 8-10 hours AFTER i had been on at home, and then log in, the stuff within the last 8-10 hours worth of new stuff doesn't show up... DH's front page on the left hand side will however STATE that there IS New posts... but doing a new post search results in no new posts being displayed, OR occasionally posts with 24 hours being displayed (which consist of some new posts i've never seen before AND alot of the older posts i've already seen.)

I'll take some screenshots and show ya..

I'm leaving right now to go to work, i won't log of on this computer (it doesn't matter if i log off or stay logged in) and then sometime durring the afternoon i'll log in on one of the machines there that doesn't have my info... and show you what i mean. (there are bound to be at least a few dozen new posts made within the next 6 hours or so)

OK... some screenshots of what i mean.

I log in on the front page and i'm greeted with this on the left hand side...

at which point i click the "New Posts" link within that and i'm then greeted with this

Alternatively, if i log into the main forums first or after i login at the from page and click on the "forums" all those new posts that should have shown up, are just blank and considered "read" already... .which is a blatent lie.

This is essetionally what happens..

log in and browse the forums as usually on machine #1..... i may or may not log off on that machine, so what, that doesn't matter.

Spend a few hours doing something and then jump on machine #2 which has NEVER been to driverheaven.net (fresh install of windows for example).... get to the site, login, hit new posts... same thing happens. Posts i've never seen before are all marked read.
