I think we should not delete any accounts. You never know who might be afraid to post but really like the helpful information. Some peeps dont post very much but are here checking out the info. We want to keep the place as freindly as possible and we certainly do like the member count growing but it doesnt matter 100%. I would like to think we have the best quality place here and that thru that we will become the biggest baddest place online

this is about the 5th time ive seen this debate going on in here and ive answered it with the same thing everytime, and will continue to do so this time.

Driverheaven is a member only forum apart from the news forum and a few other sections, therefore people who wish to see the board, seek help, chat etc etc have to join up. There is NO way im making a rule that people have to post x number of times to maintain an account, nor am I deleting accounts for those who dont post or have been inactive for a period of time. Once you join it stands. To remove accounts or to force posting is elitist, unneccesary and ridiculous. People are welcome to view all they want as a member, and if they have something to say, then they have the freedom to post. If they dont, then thats fine.

What would happen if for example a guy went to all the effort of joining up, spent a week posting, then left for a few months for example with family issues, then came back, found his account, posts, input under his name all wiped and then had to re-register all over again? I for one would feel rightly pissed off with the site owners and probably wouldnt even bother joining up again. Driverheaven primarily is a friendly and welcome place to come and chat. everything ive tried to make it without the horrible, power crazed staff who delete, remove and do whatever they feel....

If other forums delete accounts after a period of time or force members to post, then thats their choice, but it certainly wont be happening here.

I really wish you guys would get on with posting rather than debating administrative issues on a constant basis.

Also, we force members so that any download links posted by the very good peeps such as patje for his "mobile modded" drivers actually login instead of deeplinking and stealing our bandwidth without credit.

Example, noobie site finds our "Cyborg/Omegadrive Drivers" and deeplinks without any credit. So they steal our site credit and our bandwidth whilst "stroking their ego" without stroking ours. And that just plain sucks.
