Searching the Forums??? Not working for me.
I hope this hasn't been posted already.
I cannot use the search function of the forums. There is no error, just a blank page.

its working ok here in IE7, newest firefox and opera. I also had a few of the moderators check for me on MSN.
what browser are you using? any extensions installed? anything changed on your system since you last ran it ?
tried clearing your cache and cookies, then logging out and back in again?

I am using Firefox 2.0.0.1 and the latest IE7 and so many extensions and themes in Firefox that it will be hard to pinpoint what the problem is. There have been no changes what so ever since the last time I searched the forums. My system is ultra clean. I have tried portable Firefox with no extensions or themes, also to no avail. In Firefox I get a blank page and in IE I receive a " this page cannot be displayed " error.
Weird....

Well all I can see is that the search is definately working, however the site is a little slower for me tonight than normal, traffic to the reviews is high though as they are linked on a lot of sites. I counted something like 10 hits a second in the last hour.
It might be routing or a temporary glitch for you, if its still not working for you this time tomorrow, pop a message in here and ill get craig to check it out.
ok bro?

Hey Zardon,
All of the sudden it started working again. I went to the store and when I got back it was working. Nothing changed but time.
Thx for the quick replies.

On this occasion all I typed in was Prey.
Edit: using latest firefox. Did all the normals like clearing cache etc. No joy. I'll try a bit later and keep you updated.

That is exactly what I was getting...
I thought I was crazy and spent about an hour reconfiguring and updating all extensions.
I have found that it is only happening with various keyword searches. Nvidia works, ATI doesn't, etc.

How do you go about diagnosing a problem like this on a website? Is there debugging software that someone runs remotely to the host?
Excuse my lack of knowledge on the subject. Up until recently I have not given a problem like this much thought. For some reason I would just like to know what caused this and how it was fixed.

I just posted an announcement front page. we had some issues and ran some database maintenance.
As I said, in the meantime search is completely disabled. Inconvenient I know, but we need to check out some things. thanks.

I was about to start a thread asking why searching had been disabled.
Thanks for clearing it up. Good luck fixing things.

We fixed quite a few minor issues today, Craig will be having a look at the search during the week when he gets a chance.
I know its a pain without it guys, it should be up sooner rather than later.
Famous last words eh?

search is back online however we might need to rebuild the search index, but its a last resort as it will take hours and the site needs to be turned off during the rebuild.
