I'm catching up on games I've missed since 9800Pro stopped being "the card" and I just finished Assassin's Creed. At least I think I did.

I saw the writing on the floor in the test room and on the wall in Desmond's room, I set through the credits, looked at the walls and the floors once more, went through the e-mails once again (there may have been a new one on Vidic's computer, but others, including the one on the PC in the conference room, were old), read the message in the animus but the game just wouldn't finish so finally gave up.

Is that really it? Does this epic and cinematic piece really end so unceremoniously that the player needs to press Esc and answer yes to "Are you sure that you want to quit? All unsaved progress will be lost." in order to finish it?!

Marketing a video game months before its launch can be a tricky business. There’s promotions to supervise, advertisement campaigns to launch and communication with the media to coordinate. After all, it is important for customers to not only know when your game is coming out but also how incredibly awesome it’s going to be.

However, as evidenced by past behavior, some publishers and developers aren’t too concerned with winning the hearts and minds of gamers. Either they simply don’t care about how the public perceives their game, or they’re confident that they’ll still sell millions of copies regardless of how they launch their game.

Locate the file config.cfg in the game folder "\Modern Warfare 2\players\" and open in in notepad. Add a line that looks like the following.
bind KP_INS "cg_fovscale 1.2"
Save. Start the game and enter a mission, press the keypads Ins/0 key and you now get a 20% wider field of view. You'll have to do this at the beginning of every new mission. KP_INS can be substituted for other keys so you may want to experiment with that as well as with the numerical value for cg_fovscale.

I can't really enjoy this game until I've also found some way to modify the music volume.(EDIT: see post below for changing music volume) It should be doable if there's ever a way to trick the game to run a mod package. While waiting for that there are other games to play. :p

Gamersgate has it on sale. I tried the demo last night and found a few things I didn't like. The main one was that there is something weird going on with the gamma setting. No matter what I do, the roads always appear pitch black. Almost like they are sucking in them the colours from the rest of the game and from the room. I could still not stop playing the demo. I played like 10 races, and I failed big time in all.
But since it was on sale and I had some credit in GG, I decided to buy it.
It's not like there is anything special about the game, I don't know why but I find it addictive!

It's an arcade racer similar to the 100 more that exist. Set in the end of the century, where for some reason the whole planet, or at least the cities where the races take place, are in ruins or under attack, for example from meteorites...
You can buy your car and upgrade the usual things like engine etc, and also choose weapons for the three slots in your car. Not a big selection in that.
There are 10 circuits. So far they appear to be of the long variety. About 2:30+ to finish a single lap. They feel good length for this type of game. The roads are mostly wide enough to not have the usual bump into the sides that exists in many similar games. To fully unlock the game you have to play the "campaign", which is story based with fmv and cgi sequences.
You can also play scenario mode (where you have to do certain things in the track), championships and single races in 4 different modes.
The default "modern", the "classic" where if your or enemy's car is destroyed it doesn't respawn, and Rally, where there are no weapons. There is also a 4th one where you customize the rules.

I am going to plug in the 360 controller to check it out, with the keyboard the controls are not horrible, but could be better...

Other features worth mentioning, each circuit has what feels like several shortcuts, buildings that if you destroy you get bonuses (points, temp boost, etc), and bonus items on the track that replenish your ammo etc.

I read a few reviews of it from well known sites and I couldn't believe how wrong they were about a couple of things.

Anyway, this isn't a review, I just wanted you to know about this game if you are looking for arcade racing games as I (almost constantly) am.

I got the demo from gamershell.

So, Since I got the game, going, I thought I'd write my first impressions

Well this game shows lots of promise, it is visually stunning, and very in depth environment wise. However, I have found the controls a bit frustrating, from not being able to simply print off screen shots, crouch and switching fire modes, I would have also thought would have been in there....

However. the game does add a rolling system and a boost system which make the whole zero-g environment completely fun and make you have to rethink your entire strategy, you have to look around every degree up down left right, behind you, to try and fend off the opposing team, overall I'm enjoying it very much (It's multi-player only as well, so lag may be a problem, and I've heard complaints of lag on some older comps (most likely trying to turn up settings to high)

Overall, I am pleasently surprised, and this is a great game for 19.99 And a great time waster, Visually it reminds me of battle of proxycon from 3dmark2006, but its very immersive. I would like some better control options, and the key to take screenshots, but overall, this game is definitely competitive, well thought out, and quite fun.

I'd give it an 8/10
