I installed Win7 x64 and since i got this GPU a week or so ago i need some app that would show me the frame rate , GPU temperature and if possible GPU fan speed while ingame.

Before upgrading i always used ATI Tray Tools so i have no idea what other apps are out there that have similar functions.

Anyone know of such an app?
Cheers :)

easiest way to sync files on the network?

hey guys I was wondering, what is the easiest way to schedule the sync of my files across the network. This is my situation: I have my school laptop and want to be automatically updated whenever it logs on to the workgroup. Basically want something to scan specified folders on my desktop, then compare the list of files and folders on the laptop and automatically update it. In addition, if files were added on my laptop (lets say I finished some notes for a class) it would go back to my desktop. Also, make sure the latest of 2 files are the ones on both systems. Sorry to sound picky.

I've been wondering for years how to do this. I prefer to use something in windows, but I doubt they have it. I want to keep the program lightweight like windows security essentials because I know it will have to run in the back. Any advice?

I'm using RC1 on my laptop, and I'm getting this really annoying bug from my wifi. It finds networks and connects seamlessly, but over time, the signal strength just decreases constantly until it becomes dial-up speed stuff. Along with the slow speed, the laptop gets random short freezes. If I'm listening to music, it sounds like someone's grinding metal for a split second. I've tried changing random settings in the advanced settings and that didn't help at all. I never had this problem with the operating system that originally came with the laptop (Vista Home Premium x86).

My laptop is the MSI EX-620.

For the last 6 hours I tried to figure out what to do. Eventually I found this site. I have followed the instruction for the nVidia Mobility Modder Tool, downloaded the correct driver (186.81) so far so good. Then I run the setup for the driver and ALAS!

In a word; amazing! Been using it for almost two weeks now, and I love it. I had used the RC version some months back, loved it back then too, though at the time there were performance issues with a game of mine. Glad to see that not only was it worked out, but the OS as a whole has become even speedier in the release version. Other than performance, my favorite change is how they redesigned the taskbar. I still love how you can switch between and close windows through the little previews, and the way you can pin program icons directly on the taskbar. That is easily the best feature Microsoft has offered to date, IMHO. (And yes, I know it was taken from the Mac. )

However, I was most impressed and amazed when I installed it on my sister's old clunker; a 1.3 GHz Celeron with 512MB RAM that was my family's first computer. (My sis got it after I built my mom a new computer). I was pleasantly surprised when not only did it run well, but it was much faster than even a clean install of XP! :w00t: It both boots faster and is much snappier than XP ever was on that old thing.

So, needless to say, I'll be sticking with Windows 7. It is easily Microsoft's best OS to date IMO.

...that when you do a clean install of Windows 7, you gotta completely wipe the hard drive? I can understand wiping the HDD if it has a virus that won't go away otherwise, but other than that? I never had to completely wipe the HDD when I installed Win7 on my family's three computers.

I just did a custom install and when I selected the drive the old version of windows was on, it simply moved it, the Users (or Documents and Settings in xp) folder, and the Program Files folder into Windows.old, like Vista did back when I first got that. From there, did a clean install, and I was able to recover all personal files from the Windows.old folder. Heck, even other folders that weren't moved into Windows.old (like a folder I made specifically for downloaded installers) were still there, and I had a fresh installation of 7 ready to go, ready for me to reinstall all my programs again.

So, why are all these articles making it sound like a custom install will completely reformat your drive? My experience tells me otherwise, and I've had no ill side effects from not reformatting.

hey every1
Is any1 else have this problem on win 7?

A Program on your computer has corrupted your default search setting for Internet Explorer.

This keeps poping up everytime on ie8 explorer.Ive looked everywhere for a fix like this one....

Make sure IE 8 is closed then navigate to registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

Add a new “Expandable String value” inside the above mentioned key with a value name of “AppData” and a value data of “%USERPROFILE%\Application Data”.

Reopen IE 8 and see if you still get the error message.

This problem as been with us since the launch of explorer8 microsoft said they couldnt reproduce the same bug on there puters so they gave up

Posted by Microsoft on 3/13/2009 at 2:24 PM
Thank you for this feedback.

In our investigations to date we have not been able to reproduce this problem as described. However, with the release of IE8 December Partner Build this bug is outdated; it may have been fixed by the many changes we’ve made since Beta 2. If your issue still reproduces on the latest IE build, please update the repro steps and re-activate your bug.

Thank you,
The IE Team

If they cant help us we are lost

Please post a fix for me thx in advance

Specifically interested to hear what you feel about performance of the client as well.

I think I have tried them all, and still rate Avast Professional the highest as it seems to have very few 'false positives' which annoy the hell out of me with some other clients. Also used it since the early vista days and it has never left me down.

AVG free is a decent client too if you don't want to spend money.

I've got a Gigabyte MA790X-DS4 mother board which has the sb600 south bridge chip. I can't get Win 7 to recognize the drivers for the raid controller.

I've downloaded the drivers off of AMD's site along with the chipset/raid drivers from Gigabytes site and neither have worked. I've put them on a USB drive and have unchecked the box to check only for win 7 drives (which does give me a list of raid drivers to install) however none of them work.

Any suggestions? I'm not finding a whole lot on it through google so was wondering if anyone had any ideas.
