Basically the common advice Ive been given is to update my graphic drivers.

BUT, apparently ATI no longer supports my 1650pro and im forced to use v9.8 of their drivers.

Ive tried just downloading later versions, but I cannot install them. Nor can I install older versions.

Does anyone have any possible solutions in this case? :( Cheers

Hi to all.
I am new to this forum and I already have questions ;).
I am using Ati RADEON 9550 card and these drivers: Radeon Omega Drivers 2.6.75a (Catalyst 5.10a).
Those were the best when I got this card, since some older were always throwing recover VPU error message.

I have this dilemma. I am using this card on hyper-thread CPU on 3.0GHz with 1.5GB RAM. For some time I noticed that flash applications on facebook, like those playfish games are running pretty much slow and can be run only on Firefox.
Also, I wanna increase some games FPS (like Mount&Blade).

Could you suggest me which drivers are the best for this card?
I am not planning to use catalyst drivers, since of their complexity.

Hello,

I can't seem to get 3d games to work with this new card I just bought, an asus ah4650. I guess it's a re branded ATI HD 4650 card, in an AGP flavor.
And yes, I know AGP is dead :)

So, I got a couple of questions before I RMA this thing to newegg, in hopes of someone maybe catching something I'm missing because I'm pretty sure it's a driver issue.

I had an old Nvidia 6800 GT go belly up, so I bought this thing, installed the driver's off the ASUS cd, and everything appeared fine. But then I noticed my computer seemed sluggish and my CPU was at 40-50% all the time. Then when I tried to load a 3d game like left 4 dead, it will run fine for about one minute then lock up.

That's it, I have to do a hard reset everytime once it freeze's.

-(Please keep in mind this is an AGP card.)-

So I used driver cleaner and got rid of the Asus drivers and tried using the ones off ATI's website. Same thing. Rinse repeat. This time tried the Omega drivers and they didn't work at all (I guess my video card is too new??) Rinse, repeat. Tried using the latest 4000 series hotfix, no effect. There are non AGP 4600 series hotfixes, but again, non agp only.

I think this may have something to do with my nforce 3 motherboard, I don't know. I have the latest drivers for it. Below are my system specs.

-------------------------
System Specs:
AMD 64 3500+ cpu
1 gb crucial ballistix ram
550w Antec True Power PSU
MSI K8N Neo 2 platinum mobo
Win XP
-------------------------

I think I may need to wait for an AGP hotfix from ati for the 4600 series, or am I wrong? It just dosen't make sense that a brand new videocard for the agp slot won't work for 3d gaming as it's designed for...?

Anything you guys can think of?
Thanks!

Hi All,

I recently purchased a Radeon HD 4870 to replace my old 9600XT as my main graphics card. Unfortunately I still need my 9250 PCI card for my third monitor. Before the upgrade I had the 9600 and 9250 running along side each other fine as although it was not not the best for performance they both worked with the same Cat Drivers.

Now the 9250 needs the 6-11 and the new card uses the new 9-9 drivers. I cannot seem to install both sets of cat drivers on the same machine without overwriting system files from one of the driver sets.

Both drivers overwrite each other. I cant seem to find any way around this without rebuilding the drivers (which I both don't feel comfortable doing or have the time to do).

Does anyone have a solution to this problem that I have missed. Surely ATI drivers can't be that bad :(

ANY help would be greatly appreciated! (I am pretty sure this problem could be fixed with an *Nvidia* :P PCI card but I am currently looking for a 0 cast solution to my 3rd monitor problem)

Little Help?

OS: Windows XP Pro, build 2600 SP3
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939
BIOS: Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+, MMX, 3DNow, ~1.8GHz
Memory: 2048MB RAM
PSU: Antec NeoPower 550 Watt

Summary: Old AGP vid card went bad, replaced with the ATI Radeon 4600 AGP. Tried to install the ATI Display Driver Suite and got the following error message:
"SEVERE: Setup did not find a driver compatible with your current hardware or OS. Install will now exit."

Installed Omega Drivers v4.8.442 and mobo drivers.

Set BIOS to auto-detect AGP speed, nope. Set BIOS to 8x AGP, reboot, nope.

No errors detected in DXDIAG or in Device Manager.

Odd thing is that since installing the new AGP card, my CPU Usage stays in the 60% to 80% range AT IDLE.

It seems like the mobo and vidcard are fighting each each other.....

What gives? Any ideas?
