(EDITED to avoid any confusion possibly caused by my previous post)

Hello All,

I am hoping I can clear up some confusion on how to upgrade a Gateway M-1625 with an ATI Radeon x1270 video card from Vista SP2 to Windows 7 (Vista SP3? It certainly feels similar.)

My previous installation of Vista SP2 on my Gateway M-1625 ran the x1270 just fine, including the Catalyst Control Center. Once I upgrades to 7 I noticed my screen resolution was much lower and I was operating on Generic Drivers. I started a search for X1270 drivers found this answer on Yahoo Answers which is now incorrect and wasted my time.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...6093503AAcYHqr

Those instructions point to this website and these instructions

http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php

however following the instructions did not fix my problem, in fact they are a waste of time because simply downloading the following and installing them normally seems to fix my issues.

http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownloa...7&lang=English

I say "seems" because I have not yet tried to run any games or do any video editing but the CCC and Driver install normally and appear to be functioning correctly.

Hope this keeps someone from wasting their time as I did.

For start, i would like to say hi to everyone since its my first post.

I will try to describe my problem as much detalied as possible.

I am currently runing on a HP nx9420 notebook(ati mobility radeon x1600) with Windows 7

Since Hp graphic drivers werent updated since January 2008 and i have a reason why i want the latest available drivers on my notebook i tried to update them. Currently Windows 7 found their own update for drivers without me even downloading from HP site but they downloaded that January 2008 driver. Since i cant update my catalyst the regular way i tried with MobilityDotNet. When i install catalyst 9.1 or any older one, my driver keeps the version from that January 2008. Today i tried with 9.11 catalyst and when i install it in my Device Manager under graphic card info says:
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
Driver date is 11/4/2009

So my question is why doesnt my graphic card accept those drivers...

Hi!

I installed Cat 9.11 yesterday but first today when I continued working on my OpenGL application I noticed that the textures were missing. The texturing are done through shaders and works fine with 9.10. Here is a solution if you have the same problem...

1. Copy"atioglxx.dl_" drom driver folder to c:/
(for example C:\ATI\Support\9-10_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu\Driver\Packages\ Drivers\Display\W76A_INF\B_89222\)

2. Start the cmd (dos prompt) and type "expand C:\atioglxx.dl_ C:\atioglxx.dll" without "".

3. Copy the new atioglxx.dll from c:/ and paste it in the same folder as your executable.

4. See if it works

:duh:Hi all,
I just installed ati's 9.11 for win-vis, X64. Everything checks out OK. My question is.... after I install any ATI drivers 8.12 up to now 9.11, I get a update notice from microsoft to a new update. When I go and check the update out, it's always an update about ASUS ATI driver for 4800 series. When I try to install the update, it fails and now shows me the updates are NOW up to date. I have a Biostar MB and a sapphire HD 4870 GDDR 5, with 1 gig of memory. As far as I know, nothing is ASUS in my PC. This time after I install 9.11, and went to MS-update, I just hid the download, and so far the video is OK. Anyone know what this ASUS download is about.....

I have an Acer Travelmate 5720G laptop running Vista which has an ATI Radeon Mobility X2500, and I've just installed Windows 7 on it in dual boot.

In Windows 7 it is using generic VGA drivers. I've hunted around but I can't find Windows 7 drivers for the X2500. The Acer support site does not list Windows 7 drivers for that model of laptop.

I did try downloading the Windows 7 drivers for the 5725G laptop from the Acer support page but the drivers do not seem to install - I guess the 5725G must not have a X2500 graphics card.

Is there any way of getting Win7 ATI drivers for the X2500 ?

After some time of use, everything just freezes. I am attributing this to my videocard as ATI says this is a legacy device and not supported. Win7 installed some driver (version 8.5) and the freezing continues. I've tried installing the 9.3 catalyst package for win7 beta and the latest legacy driver package (9.8 for vista) but to no avail. I've tried forcing the display driver install and when I check the driver properties, it still says 8.5.

I'm not sure what else to do, back on XP on my main HDD where everything works fine. I checked catalyst and the 8.5 refers to the graphic package. On XP it shows the Catalyst version as 09.3.

Any ideas?
