VST(i)/DX(i) Effect import?
Could it be possible to make so that we could import these kinds of effects/generators into the KX system? if it was possible, this would most probably save CPU and use hardware acceleration/power to process these effects/generators?
Mark.

Well, with a twitch, it should be possible...
Routing something to an asio recording, and having an program that takes an asio recording line, throws it through a VST, and send it back on asio...
With 2 sortof "independant" routing lines (one from the original asio to asio recording, and one from the "new" asio to output) you should be able to do prettymuch anything with the sound...
backdraw, add 3 times the asio latency (1 for original playback, 1 for recording, and 1 for the second asio playback... or is the 1st step totally without latency latency?)
sow... I am wondering, IS this possible?

Yes, the method you are described will work. With "imposible" i mean you can't "import" and use (e.g. connect and tweak right in kX DSP) VST/DX plugins.
But you see your self all that things like
"takes an asio recording line, throws it through a VST, and send it back on asio..." " 3 times the asio latency" etc. cannot be called "import these kinds of effects/generators into the KX system".
My "impossible" means that you cannot integrate (so that VST/DirectX effects will behave exactly like native kX DSP plugins), but of course you CAN use VST/DirectX plugins together with kX DSP...
And yes, just like you described above.

It would be great to have a KX plugin (that you could open in the KX DSP window) that would allow you to see a list of your VST and DX effects and insert them right there. I know the processing would not be done in the sblive, but it would be great to not have to open a VST host (for some applications)... Winamp, for instance, has a plugin that will do just that. It lists all your DX effects and you can procces the sound through them...

very theoretically it is possible...however, all the winamp have to do is just send audio data from one block of memory to another block of the same memory. kX will have to 1. take audio data from somewhere inside dsp (and this is not easy thing). 2. Send that data to the main pc memory/cpu for processing. 3. get proccesed signal back and again put it somewhere to dsp. E.g. that will be so special and crazy streaming engine (with its own buffers, latencies, wasting of cpu power etc. etc.) so i can't see any benefits of that comparing to "just launch your favourite vst/dx host and viola"...

not going to happen - the plugins for the kX DSP are written specifically for the kX DSP in the Dane language, VST/DX plugins are written for x86 CPUs, not compatible at all - and as max says in the above post, any other way of getting it to work is self defeating

There are free tools that can handle VST(i) FX as a standalone host. You can route these FX via the FX-Bus into the DSP and via a physical cable back to the VST(i). Look here: VSTHost
