Request For kX User Programmers

Well, I was thinking, you all made available so many useful plug ins for this community, how about another one?

Would it be too much work for a programmer to make an Internet Radio recorder for kX users? I mean, the window's "sound recorder" sucks. All such a recorder would need is a record, stop, and "save to this directory" feature.

I was thinking if we had such a plug in, we could use the kX FX with it, too, and it all can be done from the kX DSP, hehe. I mean, heck, we have the Noise Sharpening plug in, why not have an Internet radio recorder plug in?

Of course, if this is a stupid request, forget I asked it.

I also see that the Internet radio playback signal is sort of in the category of an "input playback signal" (learned that from LeMury's kX Concept Guide), so that signal could be routed to an "internal recording output" such as an ASIO recording output and recorded in SONAR, but I just dont want to have SONAR running as long as I want to record a radio station. I plan on recording all night while I sleep, and SONAR has been known to crash sometimes, and it just seems odd to have it running so long unattended.

As I said, if this idea of a kX Internet radio recorder is a bad idea, forget I mentioned it.

Cya all around.

System Specs

It would not be a kX plugin. More like a free ASIO host with a record functionality or something like that.

I don't know why you would want to do this. It would only be useful if you want to apply kX filters before recording. There are many programs out there that can record and encode internet radio to mp3 and probably other formats. I've tried Station Ripper in the past. It does the job and it saves all the song in different files.

If someone made what you asked, would you want this program to save the radio into big wav files and would it need to encode to a lossy or a lossless format or not compressed at all.

Hi Tril:

I wasnt sure if this could be a kX plug in or not. I thought it may record in .wav like windows recorder, but 128 K Bits/Second .mp3 or higher would be great (lossless even better, and different selections for compressed (mp3), .wav, or lossless audio would be ideal).

I was thinking if this could be a kX plugin, I could record EQ on the radio signal or any other kX FX I wanted to. I could always do that using SONAR once I get the songs recorded from the radio station.

Just something that will do this beside windows sound recorder would be appreciated.

The features of Station Ripper sounds great, but it's a commercial product. Everyone wants money for something nowadays. I would install the Audigy 2 or 4 modded software and drivers for my Audigy before I pay for an Internet radio recorder, cause the newer Audigy apps have an Internet radio recorder. One may not be ale to record in the compressed formats, such as .mp3, but .wav is enough. It Will just take another step to convert to .mp3, and a lot of space will be required for long recording sessions using .wav. But it's free. LOL

Like I said, though, if it's not a useful thing, or too much work to do it, forget about the request. I still appreciate and think nice thoughts about you kX User Programmers.

You could also try StreamRipper.
It's a winamp plugin that can record internet radio streams without quality loss.

Maddogg6 will become famous soon enough

stream ripper is found here btw.
http://streamripper.sourceforge.net/

But it is just that - It wont record with any effects applied from winamp or otherwise (no KX either)

Basically it just 'clones' a connection to the winamp server (with a choice of user agents) - and saves file(s) to HDD with ID3 tags filled in.

I like it - but not exaclty what was desired. sorry
But it IS free.

Needs winamp 5 also.
