Wanted: Compressor with unheard of options. (Anti-compressor?)

Here's what I want to do:

-> Compress my vocal track REALLY HARD so it's all within the same dynamic range
-> Run it through the Compander, to add Just The Right amount of warmth
-> Uncompress it somehow--apply the opposite gain adjustment that the compressor applied.

I've seen compressors with sidechains, and we even have a couple in kX, but I think it would be really cool to have a compressor with an "unchain" or "antichain", which would apply the opposite gain correction that the regular compressor applied. I've never seen this in a compressor before. (If anyone else has, please point it out to me!)

Can this be added, easily, to an existing compressor? Or, how would I write it into my own compressor plugin?

(Also... I need a good kX De-Esser... Anyone? Anyone?)

Thanks!!

Isnīt an expander the opposite to a compressor? Yep, but I donīt think that you can easily de-apply the gain correction youīve done at a time. How the de-compressor should know, which gain has produced the processed signal that you want to deprocess? Have I something misunderstood? Could you be more specific?

A De-esser will be great, of course!

Nappylady, you can do what you say with tree Dynamic Proccesor instances:

Input --> DP1 (compress)--> DP2 (compand) --> DP3 (opposite to DP1 compress in SC mode) --> Out
Input ------------------------------------------------> DP3 Side Chain input

PD: You'll have to take into account the look-ahead times.

About de-esser, you can use too Dynamics Processor: Just filter the signal with a band pass filter, and conect the signal to the DP normal input, and the filtered signal to the DP side chain input.

PD: There are some pressets for de-essing in DP.

eyagos, you're a genius!

I'll try it ASAP (probably Friday) and post results.
