*I have rear sound now but only because I linked 0/1 to Analog Rear Out*
I'm changing my question. I now know that FXBus 2/3 doesn't lead to anything and that the only sound I get from playing MP3's comes out of FXBus 0/1. How does rear sound work exactly? Am I supposed to just link FXBus 0/1 to Analog Rear Out as well? Is it just cloned sound? Or is there some other way to get rear sound that is more..correct. Thanks! *excited about kX. This is really amazing software* Last edited by BobTheSlob; Jun 1, 2005 at 02:14 AM. |

... FX BUS 2/3 is where the midi sounds come out, first of all
I don't think there correct or incorrect rear sound, u can send to the rear the same signal or adding some kind of delayed signal or with reverb if you want. So do like: Fx bus 0/1---->connect to the sorrounder plugin and then in the surrounder plugin there are the output: front, rear, center.... look this image: DSP Setup

Well I don't really watch movies, nor do I have a 5.1 setup so real surround sound isn't really a factor for me. I'll just stick with cloned sound in the rear.

Outputs are named Rear, Front etc. just because originaly CL cards are meant to be multimedia cards playing back through surround speakers. kX however, makes it possible for you to route (send) any signal to any (or none) of those physical outputs. So there is no such thing as "the correct sound" for rear, front or whatever. (Unless you use surround speakers of course which you don't) /LeMury |

I see.
And there is no point in using a "Surrounder" plugin because I don't have 5.1 nor do I play games or watch movies, yes? I just have 0/1 linked to Front and Rear out and it sounds fine to me. |

No, if you play or make music mainly through normal stereo speakers, there is no need to use the surrounder, unload it and you get more ressources for other fine plugins.

Rear output has better DAC but without the (noisy) output amp/buffer, so that would be the prefered one. But why all the 'fuzz'? You might as well use the default DSP setup. "..Less is More.."? /LeMury [EDIT] Ignore my last remark. I Just read your post in asio section. Last edited by LeMury; Jun 2, 2005 at 03:02 AM. |

Could somone help me out with something?
I can understand the cconcept of an mp3 only having two channels. And needing to use say, the surrounder to get 5.1 our of them. But what about movies? Does PowerDVD or similar output in 5.1 channels? Then what is the point of the surrounder? |
